We cannot guarantee any work in particular will be available to you, but we will do our best to accommodate your preferences." How do so many people have so much coin laying around?

Tons of media/movie coming out, largest show for him ever. You can't really expect LSC to push you to the front of the line with one email can you? They have long list of long term clients, same with Shep and his people. The key is to plan ahead, buy from the galleries prior to the show you really want. The good thing with Shep is he does a lot of smaller varied shows. His Treason Show in WA a few months back had a lot of nice hpm woods etc... I got on the list there and still did not manage to get the piece I was looking for... - it happens to the best of us. I will say that after a conversation with the people at Treason they are great folk and I hope to purchase something from them in the future. - Back to Damaged, 200+ pieces, they probably had 2000+ preview requests.... the odds are not good for any of us, much less the first time buyers. As I said, try to find the smaller shows, you will have a much better chance.... 1/2 my shep collection has come from bottom feeding! lol.... the other half was really hard work... ec ps. watch the upcoming Shep documentary on hulu... its really good! Go check out the Damaged show if you can, I am sure it will entertain. I've done my PR for the day..... peace... ec

I got a damaged piece from them this summer and they were wonderful with regards to handling the situation, polite and expedient.

I think the anger comes from expecting everyone to be treated the same. Sorry buddy, that ain't happening. Reality is that those with prior purchases are going to get first pick.

Shepard probably has more sentences in the book of art history than any other urban/street artist discussed here, from the original 'Andre the Giant has a Posse' spreading through America virally in the early 90's, to his early use of e-commerce in art, to the Obey branding, to many issues with regards to fair use and copyright, to Obama Hope and the aftermath.
IMO, his 'Obama Hope' right now stands as the most significant artwork of the 21st century. In a world where the signal-to-noise ratio is exceptionally bad, this work cut through to popular consciousness like little else and brought a host of issues with it.

It makes me wonder what the mid-to-late 70's and early 80's were like for Warhol fans. When the work he was making was just not appreciated/good and it seemed like his time had passed.

And as i can see there is new stuff (for eg the diptych HPM on wood or the stamps on paper), maybe people not paying the works so it's back in the list... yes - they are updating. i saw a nice big HPM on the list now... but nothing to do with "availability ( sold / not sold)" because I paid my artwork already...and it is still on the list :-o

Thought the larger originals and "retired" stencil works were fantastic. Picked up a few things myself.
Still can't get over that gen admin line. Must have been 2 miles when I was leaving.
