Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by Hairbland on Sept 8, 2017 13:15:02 GMT 1, Lol. Banksy has brainwashed his fans so well. Seriously. Look at this defense everyone. I can not teach you ethereal thinking if you are limited by your surrounding reality. Weird for an art lover, they normally are a bit more open-minded about new concepts. Or maybe you are just upset because you were planning on making a profit with this. Tough.
I would agree. From his piece referencing the art auction Morons to his having his work cheaply available to passersby in Central Park to virtual souvenirs to send up the lemmings this has been an ongoing theme of his.

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by caruso on Sept 8, 2017 13:21:56 GMT 1, Banksy does have form, look at the Gorilla print and the Bristol election print debacles. So, releasing something that isn't released could be the next step to this madness. Exactly. Thank you, someone is thinking on this forum.

Lol. Another gem.
I like when artists produce art!
Sure conceptual art can be nice. But fake releasing art isn't conceptual art.
I'm all about concepts. But this one is super poor and the fact that it needs defenders like you proves it.

Okay and when they become reality what is it then?
Good physical art? What happens to that concept of virtual art you so highly are pushing?
Let's do some thinking if you are so keen...

Did I say that? Nope.
Banksy announces art release. Response: these are great prints and sculptures. It appears these might not be real but just virtual fluff to draw attention. Response: what great conceptual art! Actual trinkets and things done by others gets released. Response: what great art by banksy!

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by Cookiemonster on Sept 8, 2017 15:36:42 GMT 1, I do have to agree that all those who made that mad rush out to Bethlehem without getting full information first, that is on you, that is not the artists, POW's or Pest Control's fault for not giving you more information. With exception to the grapple hook, everything else are open editions, so no rush to go. Also how is this a publicity stunt to get more customers to the hotel, when even prior to the announcement yesterday, all the rooms were booked virtually all the way up till December.
You jumped the gun coz you saw the $$$$$.

Except it is all about sending up the art audience, his audience. Is my stuff worth tens of thousands or ten dollars. Is my work real? Am I real? Quite the social commentator.

2. Yesterday ALL rooms were still available, even for this weekend. I was an inch away from booking the Banksy Scenic Suite for 1 night (tonight)... in fact there are STILL rooms available this Sunday.

Irrespective, those that are complaining about lack of information, geez, I remember going out to Santas Ghetto with NO information except that it was opposite a falafel shop in Manger Square. There were no tours, cab options, hotel options or how or what to expect going through customs. There wasnt any information either if any prints or any art was for sale. Like many who made that trip in 2007 and the trip this year, it was and still is one of the best experiences of my life. No art will ever come close to the experience.

Banksy, Walled Off Hotel, GIFT SHOP, by met on Sept 8, 2017 17:42:26 GMT 1, So what do people think of the grappling hook meaning, explain to me please Imagine the circumstances of the average person immediately after death:
During life, they didn't mess up to the point where they're now being sent to face eternal damnation in Hell. But neither do they get to flounce off straight to Heaven. Instead, they end up in Purgatory.
Venial sins might have been committed by them, with penance left undone. Or maybe it was mortal sins (redeemed by repentance) — the relevant grave matters perhaps being murder, or rape, or masturbation.
Either way, that person is forced into Purgatory to cleanse their soul. And for god knows how long. It must be like waiting ages at a bus stop, when you've no idea how long it's going to be before the damn bus shows up. Moreover in this analogy, the bus stop, the ground you're standing on, and everything else around you is in flames.
Although I am patient and have a pretty high pain threshold, to this prospect I would still say, "Screw the 'purification through fire' crap."
_______________
Now, here's where a grappling hook would be useful if you had one to hand:
First, to escape Purgatory.
Second, for climbing over the pearly gates to Heaven — somewhere by the side or at the back, in one of Saint Peter's blind spots.
_______________
Having listened attentively to the Lady in the Radiator, my understanding is that "In Heaven, everything is fine." And, granted, that's reassuring to hear. Nevertheless, a proper irritation for me would be the non-stop praising of god. It's unbecoming. Indecent, even. Given this regressive and imposed worship culture, one has to conclude the so-called "Almighty" is a deeply insecure character.
On a more positive note, Heaven seems largely populated by mentally feeble, servile types playing harps and whatnot all day long. In such a society, I suspect it would be relatively straightforward to stage a coup d'état.
It isn't really clear how big a chap god is, but a well-placed kick in the groin would eliminate any height advantage he may have. The paternalistic dictator could then be arrested and placed on trial.
Afterwards, democratic reforms, combined with a much greater emphasis placed on education, would do Heaven a wealth of good. Individuals would become more independent and self-sufficient when freed from their overbearing father figure. They'd make greater use of their critical faculties, and the values of the Enlightenment could be embraced. This would allow everyone just to get on with their afterlives in a lucid, dignified and grown-up manner.
[Later, we could discuss possible options for bringing about a regime change in Hell — where the unacceptable, barbaric practices of eternal humiliation and torture are currently the norm.]
_______________
In brief, therefore, the grappling hook is a potential tool. And a very helpful one.
It is also but a tool.
The real work that awaits will be down to you and me. Down to all of us. Together, we can encourage increased awareness. We can instigate social change and (dare I say) even revolution in the hereafter.

[Later, we could discuss possible options for bringing about a regime change in Hell — where the unacceptable, barbaric practices of eternal humiliation and torture are currently the norm.]_______________ In brief, therefore, the grappling hook is a potential tool. And a very helpful one. It is also but a tool. The real work that awaits will be down to you and me. Down to all of us. Together, we can encourage increased awareness. We can instigate social change and (dare I say) even revolution in the hereafter. My interpretation was that the Palestinians have used the Christians' own symbol as a tool to escape their oppression. I can see him also creating a Rapunzel/Trump-esque Knotted Hair Rope when he opens his hotel in Juarez, Mexico.
So what do people think of the grappling hook meaning, explain to me please Imagine the circumstances of the average person immediately after death: During life, they didn't mess up to the point where they're now being sent to face eternal damnation in Hell. Although I am patient and have a pretty high pain threshold, to this prospect I would still say, "Screw the 'purification through fire' crap."_______________ Now, here's where a grappling hook would be useful if you had one to hand: First, to escape Purgatory. Second, for climbing over the pearly gates to Heaven — somewhere by the side or at the back, in one of Saint Peter's blind spots. _______________ Having listened attentively to the Lady in the Radiator, my understanding is that "In Heaven, everything is fine." And, granted, that's reassuring to hear. Nevertheless, a proper irritation for me would be the non-stop praising of god. It's unbecoming. Indecent, even. Given this regressive and imposed worship culture, one has to conclude the so-called "Almighty" is a deeply insecure character. Lol, spot on as it's probably the same bloodthirsty mentality as with blood diamonds.
