Bitcoin, by moron on Dec 5, 2017 22:22:34 GMT 1, You do realise he is running a coin mining operation and selling the coins.
If he is so confident why is he bigging up the future price and selling coins now?
Just read his twitter feed to see what he is about. Different women have tried to kill him nine times according to what he posted on twitter.
Did he lose a lot of money in the housing bubble? Saying he would eat his todger if Bitcoin doesn't reach a million is a way of gaining attention and hyping in order to get more people to buy into it.

Bitcoin, by woodman on Dec 6, 2017 13:48:23 GMT 1, Monero has gone up a fair chunk in the last few weeks, the last couple of days quite mental as well.
I would guess a lot of people who want Bitcoin to fail are people who thought about buying some and never did and now rue the fact they never did. Maybe a few people have different reasons but when it comes to "gambling", many do not like winners.

If you can buy it under 100$ I would buy and hold. Its not a spending coin atm its more of a buy and hold if you can afford it.

This will never happen but I would do the same.... I still think this is a once in a lifetime opportunity even at $14k.
My prediction of $15k by year end is out the window.
I’m now $15k by Sunday and $20k by year end.
Fast market ......

I think 20k by years end is a realistic possibility for sure. If we see a pullback I dont expect it to be a big one. Maybe it will get as low as 11.5-12k but I dont even think it will get that low.
Litecoin I also own, purchased around 10 coins back when it was $39/40, and 4 or 5 more in the 70's. I'll be holding them and hoping $500 will be the next stop by mid 2018.

Bitcoin, by chevyav53 on Dec 7, 2017 6:12:58 GMT 1, Interesting take on impact of cryptocurrencies
Bitcoin is ruining the planet
“The bitcoin network requires a tremendous amount of electricity. As bitcoin becomes more popular, the math problems computers must solve to make more bitcoin become more difficult, which requires more energy. Cryptocurrencies are slowing the effort to achieve a rapid transition away from fossil fuels at a crucial time for humanity. If you're like me, you've probably been ignoring the bitcoin phenomenon for years - because it seemed too complex, far-fetched, or maybe even too libertarian.”

This is an ill informed article, suggesting the same amount of energy is used mining bitcoin as with bitcoin transactions. This is not true.

Bitcoin, by Sliding on the Walls on Dec 7, 2017 11:00:46 GMT 1, What are everyone's thoughts on Litecoin? Looking at the charts I'd say that this is a good time to buy Litecoin. It's pulled back to under $100 due to BTC's unprecedented surge.
Historically it's played catch up with BTC so there will most likely be a surge in price coming. It's cheaper, more readily available, faster, and more useful for smaller transactions.
People call it the silver to Bitcoin's Gold.
I've seen profits of around 130% since I invested in July

Bitcoin, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Dec 7, 2017 11:12:50 GMT 1, I can't remember exactly but probably around 18 months ago an ex colleague sent a PDF to me, lots of pages all about bitcoin, how it works etc. he was investing.. I read a little and thought 'what a load of bollox'. I think if I was single not married with kids I wouldnt have even read and said 'yeah fuck it I'm in for a few grand'!!
Advice to younger forum members if you earn a decent wage, invest when your young, in tech, start ups, property, land etc...don't just save with the shit intrest the bank give savers you'll get low returns..

Bitcoin, by moron on Dec 7, 2017 11:50:31 GMT 1, I guess it depends on whether bitcoin mining that uses peoples electricity without permission via a javascript when people go on websites including some news sites etc etc gets regulated or banned for example in the european union or countries like China etc. Plus whether bitcoin is banned in some countries in the future.
One good way of earning money from bitcoin is to install one of those bitcoin exchange machines in your corner shop if you have one where local drug dealers and of course honest people can change bank notes for bitcoins and which allows the shop keeper to make a couple of grand a month just by having one of those exchange machines installed.
It used to be that a lot of dodgy money was invested in property and pushing up property prices. Now that there is the bitcoin option i'm wondering if property investment will fall.
It's all speculation and anything can happen.

IOTA
"IOTA does not use the traditional blockchain design used by most cryptocurrencies. Instead, it has developed a new platform called Tangle, which uses a mathematical concept known as Directed Acyclic Graphs (DAG). For its own transaction to be valid, each node in a DAG Tangle must approve two previous transactions at other node. This has two consequences. First, it removes “miners” as entities to validate transactions, thereby removing a possible bottleneck when transaction speed and numbers are high. Second, the network’s growth and speed becomes directly proportional to the numbers of its users.
IOTA also does not have transaction fees and claims to have solved scaling problems, such as network delays due to block congestion, related to bitcoin."

Lots of upa sand downs and bitcoin can fall as fast as it can rise.
I know zero about trading and e money. I just thought, seing as iota is at around $3 and very new with money behind it. It might be worth a $30 punt. Plus I think it's only available to trade or buy on two platforms.
Are there any potential rivals to bitcoin emerging yet that are rising as fast as bitcoin?
