Bitcoin, by tran16 on Dec 7, 2017 13:14:16 GMT 1, Any simple answer to what %fee eToro take if you switch funds from one crypto to another ..? I don't think you can switch funds on E-Toro, you just open and close positions for zero fee, however every time you open position it's on a CFD (Contact for Difference), ie a spread so that's how they make their money off you. The spreads vary between the coins, Bitcoin is the lowest (less than 1%). BCH and ETC the highest, about 5% I think, the others around 2/3%

Bitcoin, by Shoot Again on Dec 7, 2017 14:50:59 GMT 1, GDAX, Coinbase’s digital currency exchange, has been leading the rally all day. The price on GDAX is currently about $500 ahead of other Western Bitcoin exchanges. The likeliest - and most bullish - explanation is that Coinbase is the easiest way for new Bitcoin investors to get involved. Consequently, when GDAX leads the charge as it has today, it probably means new “retail” investors are fueling the rally

Bitcoin, by Viking Surfer on Dec 8, 2017 12:08:10 GMT 1, Interesting day today.
I sold at 13.5 GBP and bought back in at 11.8. I wonder where it'll level out.
I put a Limit sell in at 14.2 just in case it goes crazy again whilst I'm asleep.

It baffles me a bit I thought you could "download" your wallet onto a usb/hard drive? OR does it have to stay in an exchange? < n000000b

Bitcoin, by Fuzzyduck121 on Dec 8, 2017 13:26:43 GMT 1, If your coins are held on your behalf with an exchange that gets hacked etc you lose your coins
if you store them yourself in your own cold wallet you are safer but if you lose the wallet physically or otherwise you are stuffed
coinfloor is an exchange but they cold store your coins for you in a vault so bit more like having gold in a bank that's got its own security
no guarantees though in any event

Bitcoin, by Sliding on the Walls on Dec 8, 2017 13:41:13 GMT 1, Never keep them on exchange. Buy a nano ledger s. I almost had a heart attack last night.
I plugged in my Nano Ledger to move some BTC using the Chrome app and my wallet said 0.0BTC!!!!
I hadn't touched it since July when I moved my only transaction over to it.
0.0BTC
After feeling sick for a good 20 minutes trying to figure out how I could have got it so catastrophically wrong and contemplating where to go from here I discovered that since I had bought it, it had needed to update the firmware on the wallets. Basically you have to uninstall your BTC wallet off the ledger and then re-install it.
A prospect that scared the shit out of me even more 'what if i'm not actually supposed to do this?' 'what if i'm not reading these instructions properly' 'why would you uninstall your BTC wallet how can you get it back again?' and then the acceptance of 'whats the worst that can happen, I seem to have lost all of the BTC anyway'...
I uninstalled, re installed and low and behold there they were again.
New pants please!

Bitcoin, by moron on Dec 8, 2017 15:39:10 GMT 1, Yes there will be a few inside jobs thefts of bitcoins to come. These bitcoin exchanges which employ real people, won't be hard for crims to plant their people in these companies to steal millions. I won't be surprised if also people working for hedge funds banks etc etc use their clients money or other peoples money unknowingly to speculate on bitcoin and it all goes pear shaped and could cost a financial institution or company millions.
Solar powered bitcoin mining setups being set up allready large and small. How long before hot countries install them to bring in revenue from bitcoin mining.?
Venezuala is introducing the Petro digital currency backed by their huge oil reserves. Bad management despite having oil an dthe country virtually bankrupt with people there only surviving by mining for Bitcoins, being arrested beaten up by the police having the computers stolen only for the corrupt police to use those computers to line their own pockets mining bitcoins. So any commies on here interested in supporting Venezuala by investing in the Petro?

Bitcoin, by Art Fan 2011 on Dec 8, 2017 23:35:28 GMT 1, CC`s are here to stay and seem to be all the rage with even the most uninformed investor`s causing the recent surges to get even bigger. With BC becoming prohibitively expensive what alternatives are people trying? Been watching Monero for a while and seen it climb rapidly, cant help but think BC will drag up other CC`s with it and perhaps there are some cracking opportunities out there, if not a little risky

I thought with Trezors hardware wallet there was a potential to recover your wallet in case of fire or damage. Something about a 12 word key?
