I am a firm believer that one day a lot of blockchain technology will solve a lot of issues with provenancee as they are essentially immutable databases. coinjournal.net/erc721-and-the-rise-of-crypto-collectibles/Known Origin is a Manchester based collective of really talented guys who are working with artists to release digital art on the Ethereum blockchain. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into art and crypto. knownorigin.io/ digital art, do you mean like www.neonmob.com/ ?

Bitcoin, by lemonte on Jul 29, 2018 18:44:36 GMT 1, Not a million miles off, but really, there's nothing to prove how scarce an item is in your example. With blockchain you can prove the authenticity and scarcity of an asset, in a way that can't be amended.
Oh and full disclosure, I've sold my art on KnownOrigin before, though it's all currently sold out.
I have 2 or 3 physical prints of the digital stuff we've done that I can send out for free if anyone would like one. (Not currently an asset on the Ethereum blockchain)

Bitcoin, by Schrödinger's Chat on Oct 28, 2018 8:33:34 GMT 1, So, Initiative Q, has anyone come across it? Is it the next big thing? Pyramid scheme? Scam?
I was invited by a techy and cynical friend so I thought I would give it a try. If anyone wants an invite link drop me a PM.
Basic info:
Initiative Q is building the payment system of the future. The Q payment network will integrate the best technological improvements that have been made in the payment industry over the last few decades to create a flexible, easy-to-use and inexpensive payment network.
These technologies have been available for years, but have not been adopted due to a classic chicken and egg barrier: No buyer wants to join a new network with no sellers, and no seller will offer a payment option that no buyer uses.
Initiative Q solves the adoption problem by associating the payment network with a new global currency, and distributing this currency to early adopters for free.

I'm currently hugely down from this point last year but still only a 50% loss overall (low hundreds so nothing to cry about)

Bitcoin, by gd79 on Nov 6, 2018 15:08:06 GMT 1, FINMA has just slapped an 800% risk weight on bank holdings of crypto assets.
That effectively kills any idea of banks having significant interest in these assets, either for flow or holding value.
Give or take, it means that banks have to hold 1 for 1 equity against crypto holdings.

I did think that after my post. I'm pretty sure it was near the bitcoin peak that the sale was made, and the seller seemed to be going all in in crypto.
I may have it wrong it was a year ago and I've been to sleep since then.

Wonder where the price was when he wrote that article in 2013 as well.

I've been into bitcoin since 2012. For years people just laughed at me or dismissed it. Then when price hit it's peak everyone suddenly wanted in. Got to love human nature.
I'm pretty neutral on crypto now. I still like the basic principle but valuations got stupid and the number of scams out of control. Once a few of these altcoins get wiped out and people refocus on the few good ideas maybe progress can continue. Time will tell.
