Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by easy on Oct 4, 2017 23:25:26 GMT 1, Newbie here so please give me some leeway with what I have to say...
I have been interested in the scene for several years now as I find the art something quite special and the messaging often compelling. Much more so since I went to The Walled Off in May with a couple of Urban Art mates who are fully into the scene.
Arriving with little knowledge of the hotel, the art therein, the whole setup and - more than anything else - the Palestinian story that the hotel so eloquently delivers - I was blown away by the whole experience. Especially the plight of the Palestinians whom the Jews treat much as the Germans treated the Jews in the early years.
I was so taken with the story that I took my sister and daughter there again last week. We each got our box sets which the girls intended to sell to cover the cost of the trip on return to the UK; but have decided to hang on to as mementos of the trip. Because it was such a stunning experience for them both (and again for myself tbh - I would recommend the tours as obligatory) we've all decided we do want something on the wall to remind us of this.
I realise I am on an Urban Art Forum and most people's attention will be focused on Art/Values/Editions. What I do want to say though is that what Banksy has created here is a much bigger story than that. I have never seen a trip better suited to delivering a more complex message so eloquently as staying at the hotel AND DOING THE TOURS.
And for that alone the question of what these "marketing" pieces are worth seems largely irrelevant to me. If you like the art, experience it and get the message it has all been made to deliver - while you can. Hats off to the man for the unforgettable experience. And hats on for those who talk about the money alone.
This was set up to tell a story. Go and hear it - whether you make money or not. Surely that's the artist's intention?

Hats off to everyone who intended to sell the art but decided to hang it instead.

Perfect, this is a statement from somebody who has clearly been there and felt the message, the same message I breathed when I went there, you can feel how powerful that is deep inside you, it’s heartbreaking knowing the full exsistence of their plight.
if some of you have any ounce of moral in your body stop talking about all fucking hyped shit over buying and sellling,
It’s bollocks, Please wake up to the real world.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Season of Mist on Oct 5, 2017 12:53:23 GMT 1, Well I managed to get two over there, by making two trips and staying a bit in Israel in the meantime.
No hook, no wall... People making the trip just for resell value will be disapointed. I can tell you that. Thankfully this wasn't the main goal of my trip.
But in the meantime, I have one to sell - one on my wall is enough. PM me if you wanna make an offer.

Well I managed to get two over there! By making two trips and staying a bit in Israel in the meantime.
No hook, no wall... People making the trip just for resell value will be disappointed. I can tell you that. Thankfully this wasn't the main goal of my trip.

Despite what some members are saying, Ebay prices are still climbing. Last 3 results :
www.ebay.com/itm/142522823363?clk_rvr_id=1327792904223
www.ebay.com/itm/Banksy-Walled-Off-Hotel-Box-Set-Hand-Finished-Framed-Print-In-Hand-/142525731984?
www.ebay.com/itm/263220677505?clk_rvr_id=1327637883435
I'd rather sell here than on Ebay and take a small hit on the theoretical value, but to the jokers who offered less than buying value while EVERYTHING here sells over buying price (at least everything I bought so far!!) : no thank you.
It's shipping from France so no worries at custom either. Original receipt available etc.

Good luck with sale.
That being said, there's another thread in here with a lot of info aND price discussion. Last sold result was like 2k... once they hit around 1k I'll grab, and get it properly framed over the frame. Will be a great Wall piece

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by Rouen Cathedral on Oct 5, 2017 13:56:32 GMT 1, Newbie here so please give me some leeway with what I have to say...
Good post.
This is why I continue the question of what is art and not art surrounding the Walled Off. For some reason this is met neagtively. I think that says something about the whole thing and how many feel or what their intentions are.
To me you can’t classify the hotel as art.
Newbie here so please give me some leeway with what I have to say... Good post. This is why I continue the question of what is art and not art surrounding the Walled Off. For some reason this is met neagtively. None sold for less 3K AFAIK - I didn't see the one not meeting the reserve at all???

Highest bid $1750 and another one $2025, both reserve not met, went unsold. They were from the same seller.

Banksy • Box Set, Walled Off Hotel, by NYart on Oct 5, 2017 14:57:54 GMT 1, Your best off setting your price and seeing if anyone bites. No sense arguing over sketchy eBay out comes. Who knows what sales are actually gone through with.
Seems realistic to believe one could get one off eBay for 2k give or take so if you really would rather sell here that may be your benchmark.

Normally I don't comment on politics, but in this case I changed my mind. The Palestinians are not treated fairly, but never ever treated as the Jews during Hitlers government. There are no gas chambers, mass execution, labour camps, etc. Maybe visting Auschwitz or Yad Vashem..then comparing again. Thanks
