It has some slight condition issues on its back. It's been to the restaurator once. The front is fresh and you wouldn't know it. The back has some tape marks. Here is the best photo I have.  What is the value of it? Is that a no go to buy? Can that be restored? Thank you very much Lucko0r If the front looks good, then I wouldn't worry about the back. A lot of these will have some tape marks on them. Just make sure there is not any noticeable skinning from the front if held up to the light.

To me that is what the market value is of the piece. Would a private seller get that total, probably not in most cases, but I think it should be closer to that price, rather than closer to what the hammer price was. |

Thinning of the paper, usually from tape removal or poor treatment. So it's like the paper has had the top layer of 'skin' removed. Not always obvious until you hold it up to light, then you can see the paper isn't all the same thickness. |

the 'what the buyer pays' logic doesn't make sense. one could argue the same re: what the seller receives and then you're looking at a very different number.
the real answer is somewhere in the middle, frankly leaning more toward the seller's number, and that isn't factored into the website. the site is incorporating premiums and fees that reflect the value of auction house services, not the value of the print. and when those fees get up to 30%+, it seriously effects the reliability of the metric.
the site is also clearly biased because it only uses sales results and does not incorporate when pieces fail to sell at auction. i encourage everyone to use the site as a jumping off point and do their own research, especially buyers. and this is coming from a banksy owner.

Hey guys,
I've pretty much been only a lurker here for the last couple of years. I bought a wheelclamp with a might be Banksy Stencil on it 6 years ago. Now someone contacted me, he would sell it in an auction. (Tried to sell it 2 years ago, but changed my mind and kept it instead). Would someone please advice me what to do? I tried to get a COA but that didn't work. Can send a pic per pm if you want. I'm sorry if this is not the right place to post this.

You need to check the COA as just because it's a Gallery does not mean it's real. You need a bit of help with this before you hand over all that payment
