New Banksy in Hull, by shadowuk on Jan 27, 2018 0:09:11 GMT 1, Just been to see this! I'm from Hull so only took 10minutes to get there. Only about 10 people were there when I arrived and 2 people when I left. The council have put up a 8 foot metal fence but people are climbing over it to get photos. I'm hoping a few more pop-up over the next few days!
The bridge is permanently up as it's not used anymore

New Banksy in Hull, by Deleted on Jan 27, 2018 0:13:36 GMT 1, Could be wrong but when the bridge is lowered, you can't see it. So when the bridge gets raised, a little kid appears calling people to arms to draw on the bridge. There's also the obvious play on words. I like it!
Could be talking shit though.

Any sign of any shady looking guys with bridge removal equipment and a large truck?

No. . Not yet anyway. 😕 Don't think it will last tbh unless the local council cover it or something. It's in the middle of the 'forgotten part of town' so can get ruined easily. Only takes 1 idiot!

New Banksy in Hull, by detail on Jan 27, 2018 0:33:45 GMT 1, Seems like a statement about Brexit to me. Hull voted to leave/raise the drawbridge heavily despite benefiting a lot from investment by European companies in recent years. Its also a port town like Dover, the location of another Brexit themed Banksy piece. Most of the shipping trade in Hull is with European countries like Denmark, Amsterdam, Germany and Belgium.

Oh. I think you're right. Didn't know that about Hull and Brexit.

New Banksy in Hull, by iamzero on Jan 27, 2018 10:40:48 GMT 1, I have it on good authority that the drawbridge and red pencil represent the artists growing anger at the insane price rise in art materials from local suppliers forcing a new generation to use only chalk based mediums. The colander helmet signifies the holes left unrepaired in the roads around the north that John Lennon once sung about, mainly in Blackburn Lancashire... but it’s not that far from Hull. The wooden sword is Banksy pointing out that the perceived threat he has become to galleries and the world of fine art isn’t real, it’s as false as the weapon he holds and the fact the boy is sitting on a graffiti piece shows that Banksy’s whole world is propped up by the history of street art and if this is removed then the prices of Banksy artwork will tumble leaving investors with egg on their faces.

That's interesting, thanks for the description. How would the history of street art be removed, thereby leaving investors eggy?
