Invader prices dropping, by Carl Cashman on Feb 6, 2018 9:49:43 GMT 1, Burst is slightly exreme... but nothing rises forever. You need a slight correction before the next level, plus if galleries stop bidding on auctions the manipulation slows down. A pyramid scheme (which is pretty much what a lot of prices are) has to stop at some point.. especially if the better quality work has already changed hands.

Invader prices dropping, by Deleted on Feb 6, 2018 9:57:01 GMT 1, Straight forward answer is - the prices were false. An illusion created by a few galleries and the ‘invader’ investors in Hong Kong.
Will be interesting to see if they rise again or if permanent damage is done.
You can bet those responsible made their bucks

Invader prices dropping, by Happy Shopper on Feb 6, 2018 10:39:09 GMT 1, I haven't really seen prices dropping as such... but I've seen some high asking prices on here recently, and don't know what they sold for, or if they sold at all.
There's a lot going unsold on ebay too.

Decorative or 'fun' street pieces and artist, but nothing more long term, value wise IMO. Lots of pump n dump last year and now they bought Banksy with it.

Invader prices dropping, by dogstar on Feb 6, 2018 12:02:36 GMT 1, No bubble has burst, his primary market remains as strong as ever, what we're seeing now is nothing more than a secondary market price correction on editions.
He could release an edition of 100 prints at £2,500 each today and they'd still sell out in a flash.

Invader prices dropping, by Matt on Feb 6, 2018 12:11:45 GMT 1, Invader has been on steady rise since he started.
This has always been utterly deserved - his fundamentals and integrity are strong - he has grown a global fanbase over the years that most artists would envy - he has put on great shows - he has done increasingly well in auctions and has a solid following of folks buying originals.
As this happened, a handful of chaps saw an opportunity to boost the trend and make some fast cash on the print market.
The correction is simply a fall back from too much too soon, on the print market.
You could say that the release of two prints in this overheated time was a mistake (the MSF kit was a much smarter idea in contrast), the prints were bought mostly to flip, and this abundant new stock immediately highlighted the fact that prices were artificially high.
Will Invader recover ? I would think yes as everything points to the fact that he is a strong artist, and his originals are selling out immediately on primary and secondary.
Judging the market by the prints is not necessarily the right view in this case.
But the prints are def getting much cheaper so don't complain, now is the time to buy the ones you like

Invader prices dropping, by moron on Feb 6, 2018 16:53:09 GMT 1, Definately over hyped and over sold and marketed by some big dealers who hooked their claws into the urban art bubble. there is no substance behind Invaders "art" apart from a gimmick of putting tiles Atari game caracters on walls and saying look how clever and witty I am I make Space Invader on street wiv little tiles. That was OK in itself even tho Fekner did it first. Then came the urban art bubble and flip flop flash foo faf funk and dunk on forums and Invader having very little creativity and imagination made cartoon caracters in tiles and rubik cube tile mosaics which is easy enough to do in itself.
So now it looks like the big galleries and dealers who put money into invader and made sure some very high prices achieved at auction are probably finding it very hard to find people with money who view Invader as a blue chip investment.
Stik's next to drop.

Lol, no this was simple manipulation by a handful of galleries and then taken on board by Bell weather fans who made it a reality. All that’s happening now is a logical correction to ‘real’ value.

"Invader prices are dropping" Whats doess this mean? Flippers are making 500£ less per print! How sad...
The art market is not cooling down because of simple economics. Look at artist like Harland Miller. He is not cooling down because its not his turn to cool down. (just wait for him)
Invader is still invader, and id rather have an invader.
