Chiswick • Urban Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Nov 21, 2018 21:19:42 GMT 1, I’m pleased to announce the Post War and Contemporary/Urban sales are now viewable online using the links below.
Post War and Contemporary chiswickauctions.co.uk/catalogues/1812052/ Urban chiswickauctions.co.uk/catalogues/181206/
With over 780 lots there are price points for every budget, with numerous lots being offered with no reserve. There are a wide selection of originals, prints, and sculpture from the leading names across both movements.
Due to the size the auctions have had to be split over 2 days Post War and Contemporary at 5pm on the 5th and Urban at 4pm on the 6th.
We will be holding an event on the evening of the 5th to preview both sales and to thank all our consigners and buyers for their support over the last year. I would love to welcome as many of you as possible to this evening no rsvp is needed drink and food will be provided. Hopefully the opportunity to view 790 pieces of art will be draw enough to get the forum’s finest mobilised.
I would encourage interested bidders to bid directly with the auction house to avoid online bidding charges attached to bidding with The Saleroom and Invaluable. For any queries on condition or provenance please contact me danny@chiswickauctions.co.uk

Appreciate the response. Other estimates seem fair and it’s a good line up.

It went up recently.
In fact, it is 5% plus VAT so it's 6%. Along with buyer's premium, it's now 36% on top of the hammer price!

Auctions can be great fun. Its best not to expect too much, just go and enjoy it.
You will always remember your first one. The buzz of the auctions is much better than doing a private sale. The only thing is be prepared for your lot to go unsold, as if you have to many expectations you won't enjoy the auction.
If by any chance a lot goes unsold, no worries just enjoy your art!

Chiswick • Urban Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Dec 3, 2018 13:00:40 GMT 1, Some cracking pieces. If we want to pop in a view the items when can we do this and what's the address? Apologies for the slow reply we’ve been hanging and numbering the lots for the viewing. Works are now viewable at Chiswick’s saleroom 1 Colville Rd Chiswick London W3 8BL.
I’m looking forward to welcoming those of you who can come on Wednesday/Thursday. The Contemorary sale starts at 5pm on Wednesday and should be finished by 7.30pm. There will be drinks and food served during and after the sale on Wednesday. With approx 790 lots its a great opportunity to come and see a wide selection of art and artists.
If you intend to bid on anything I would encourage you to register directly with us to avoid online bidding fees of 5% with The Saleroom and Invaluable. We need Photo ID and Proof of Address sent to bids@chiswickauctions.co.uk to register bidders then you can request a telephone bid or leave an absentee bid for us to manage on your behalf.

I believe this is the later version. The reserve on this lot has been lowered, the estimate couldn’t be altered as it was past the point where they could be changed.

Chiswick • Urban Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Poly Mindset on Dec 5, 2018 0:22:27 GMT 1, Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmm.........Isn't it kind of embarrassing for this auction house to list the Haring "Crack Down" poster and program (lot #9) as valued at 500-750 gbp when you can still buy it at Wolfgang's for 100 gbp ($130). Personally it makes me question the integrity and extent of knowledge of the people in charge of this auction house. I have never dealt with them in any way. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Chiswick • Urban Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Dec 5, 2018 0:31:42 GMT 1, Was really surprised to see Chiswick be unable to sell the Happy Choppers AP. One just sold at SBI auctions in Japan for $66k usd. Record price. Prices have taken a fairly sharp upswing since that sale, ours passed on the 20th Jun and this result was on the 3rd of Nov that’s 136 days apart! The piece was placed privately post sale at a price higher than it passed at with buyer and seller both happy.
This is the second time you’ve mentioned it now I’m not really sure what point you’re trying to make? Prices fluctuate especially at auction. The seller was consulted and an estimate was agreed that they felt offered them a level of protection they wanted and informed buyers of what to expect to pay. On the day this wasn’t met so the work was returned. The seller had tried 2 larger houses and wasn’t willing to risk putting the work in at the estimates given.
In the event of a work passing I’d encourage any interested buyers to get in touch and we’ll do our best to put a sale together post sale. Equally if you see a result of a work that you own and want to try to sell to an underbidder we’ll also be happy to try.
It’s always the way you look at a set of results post sale and there are lots where you’re kicking yourself thinking “I would have bought that” and others where your also thinking “I’d sell mine for that”. The best way to avoid this is to be registered to bid and look for the opportunities or consign as a seller.

Chiswick • Urban Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Poly Mindset on Dec 5, 2018 1:40:52 GMT 1, Sounds like you're a businessman who's good at making excuses. Personally, I think the damage is done and you probably should have pulled that lot to save yourselves, the seller, and any bidder any embarrassment. Why would any buyer bid on that piece instead of going directly to the source? Unless, of course the reserve is so low that the hammer price including any fees and shipping is lower than 100 gbp's. Additionally, if you're just repeating other auction house's estimates what does that say about the depth of your references and art knowledge specially when the lead on the "Crack Down" piece was posted on this forum more than a month ago and I'm sure the four platforms weren't live back then. Sorry I'm busting your balls but sometimes balls need to be busted. It's all part of being on the Forum. So, I say Whateva.... good luck with your auction.
