Chiswick • Urban Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by daniel3886 on Dec 5, 2018 1:55:38 GMT 1, Sounds like you're a businessman who's good at making excuses. Personally, I think the damage is done and you probably should have pulled that lot to save yourselves, the seller, and any bidder any embarrassment. Why would any buyer bid on that piece instead of going directly to the source? Unless, of course the reserve is so low that the hammer price including any fees and shipping is lower than 100 gbp's. Additionally, if you're just repeating other auction house's estimates what does that say about the depth of your references and art knowledge specially when the lead on the "Crack Down" piece was posted on this forum more than a month ago and I'm sure the four platforms weren't live back then. Sorry I'm busting your balls but sometimes balls need to be busted. It's all part of being on the Forum. So, I say Whateva.... good luck with your auction.
This point was already raised and addressed by another forum member earlier in the thread. I responded to him investigated and took action.
You’re fully entitled to your opinion and if I’ve come up short here in your eyes then I’ll have to accept that. If the lot is estimated to high it won’t sell and the work will be returned.
Hopefully after this weeks sales we will have sold in the region of £1.2/1.3m worth of urban and Contemporary art from a standing start in our first year. We have hundreds of very happy customers and look forward to improving and exceeding next year.
Accuracy and attention to detail are important and I can see this has left a slightly bad taste with a few members so I’ll endevour to pay even closer attention when checking estimates going forward.

Chiswick • Urban Art Auctions 🇬🇧, by Deleted on Dec 5, 2018 10:17:25 GMT 1, I'm not sure why people are obsessing about estimates so much. An estimate is simply...er...an estimate. As we all know, an item at auction can go for less or, sometimes, much much more than the estimate. An estimate is only a rough guide. You really shouldn't be taking all that much notice over it. You pay what you think the item is worth to you. Avoid all the noise.

They did indeed, if memory serves "Theseus crosses a line" went for its £6000 estimate And the other original went for more than its £7200
Both really nice and if I had the money spare I would have bidded
I picked up an original with roughly the same dimensions last year in a private sale for around the £4k mark hence my previous comment thinking the estimates were high

It did not sell - Damn. Is there anyway to tell what the reserve price was? I have my grails that are likely never achievable, and then my grails that are within reach around bonus time or if I feel like blowing more cash than I probably should. I'd file a piece from this series under the latter.
Thanks for the info.
