Cycle For Survival-Fundraising Cycling/Spinning Event, by jkesquire on Feb 13, 2018 17:56:45 GMT 1,
Hello fellow Forumites,
I have been a member here for several months now and have found this place to be a community of genuinely great individuals. I have learned a massive amount here, and have always tried to be seen as a respected member (although my tenure here is nowhere near as long as some other folks!). I am now asking for your help.
We all know someone who has been affected by Cancer in some way or another. Whether it is a family member, friend, colleague, and even yourself individually. Hopefully anyone you know who has battled with cancer has won their battle. Unfortunately, that is not the case for everyone.
My (future) father-in-law has been battling lung cancer for some time now, and he is going in for his second lung surgery one week from today. My fiance (for the second year) has signed us up for Cycle for Survival. It is an incredible foundation partnered with Equinox Gym and Memorial Sloan Kettering (where my father in law will be having his surgery). Together, they host a cycling/spinning event all over the country in an effort to raise money for cancer research.
So far this year, $22,500,000.00 (and counting) has been raised for this cause. Over $30,000,000 was raised last year, so it is truly an incredible event. I have emailed all of my friends, family, and colleagues asking for their help as well. I am now reaching out to my fellow art enthusiasts to see if anyone is interested in contributing. Any, and every, donation counts and means the world to all those involved and affected by all types of cancers. I will be spinning in honor of my father-in-law and I am doing all that I can to raise as much as possible for my team, and the overall cause. I understand this is an art forum and some people may not believe this is the right place for a post about this, but to that I say this....I can't possibly think of a more efficient way to reach such a large number of people.....and hell, if we can debate about bitcoin on here, we can basically discuss anything!
I want to thank you all in advance for any contributions that you are able to make. It really means a great deal to me that you would even take the time to read this, let alone consider making a donation. Here is the link to donate, should anyone feel so inclined:
mskcc.convio.net/site/TR?px=3677601&pg=personal&fr_id=3031
The donation can be any amount that you would like. It can be from a business or an individual. The link will bring you to my personal donation page, where you will be able to put in your own name as donor (or remain anonymous). My name is Jake Kimmelman, and my team's name is Team Heckler. Again, thank you all for your time and generous donations!
