Why do companies, bands, any artists or anyone even pay for advertising then or agents. YOU really think Banksy is so popular he's above a need for all of this in today's world. You sir have a lot of banksy dick in your mouth and need some air to your brain. You can't have it both ways he's either a phony with a PR team, agent etc. or is eventually doomed for obscurity.
So there are noย world renowned and collected artist whose popularity knows no limits who live or lived a reclusive lifestyle or maybe even died penniless who never used agents or paid for advertising?ย
No artists alive or dead whose popularityย has existedย for decades just because people connected with their work rather than it being a PR exercise?
If Banksy became that guy this forum including myself would all be very rich and own a piece of history. I just donโt think we are all that lucky nor do I think Banksy is that guy.
My money is more on Raymond pettibon or a bunch of others before banksy

I would love to hear how you expect him to keep his popularity minus going down the regular road of PR, art agents, etc. You could make as**t ton of money if you have sussed that out. you really don't like him do you? Why not? what has he done to piss you off so much? I don't think anyone is proclaiming banksy to be the new messiah, though he is a bit of a naughty boy. But a lot of us do like him, have liked him for 10 + years. i don't know what he does to piss people off? I used to get the grafitti tagger type dudes calling him names, art fag I think was one? and i get people calling him a vandal for drawing on walls if he retired tomorrow and just wrapped it up and called it a day, and lets say for whatever reason all his art value dropped to zero, i'd still have enjoyed what he has done and given. i haven't got that from any other artist I am not even that much of a fan boy i just don't get the hate

Iโm not pissed off. I love the enthusiasm for Banksy. I just think saying his popularity hasnโt dropped since exit through the gift shop came out is a bit ridiculous.

If I went to the buffet line at dinner time and asked 100 people to name an artist I'd bet 1000 dollars none of them would say banksy.

Not sure why prices always make an entrance. I'd argue popularity and prices aren't ad related as most think.

Well popularity and demand are usually related. Supply hasnโt increased so it is a scarce commodity. But since you propose his popularity has diminished then it is logical to conclude demand would subside too...
