Normal Timeframe To Get Certificate Of Authenticit, by dantheman8 on Apr 3, 2018 19:04:07 GMT 1, I dont want to name names, but i've recently added a nice piece of work by a very large, reputable gallery of a large, reputable artist. It's been over 1 month since I bought my piece and was told my certificate of authenticity would only take a week or so. Now I'm being told the artist owes multiple galleries multiple COA and I think thats very unprofessional and Im unhappy. I doubt the gallery would allow me to return my piece but how long is too long to get a certificate. Just seems very unprofessional to be 1 month now

Normal Timeframe To Get Certificate Of Authenticit, by Deleted on Apr 3, 2018 19:14:21 GMT 1, I don't think i would be overly worried, if its a good gallery as you say and you have a receipt for the piece and the artist is being 'artisty' over the COA. I'd know its in the interest for the various galleries to be chasing the artist and if it all turned to shit you have the gallery receipt and hopefully an email trail etc.
If it bought Primary i am sure the gallery can negotiate the COA with the artist as i don't think the artist would normally be paid until the art is sold?
Good luck sorting

Normal Timeframe To Get Certificate Of Authenticit, by uncle on Apr 3, 2018 19:15:52 GMT 1, If its a reputable artist and gallery, and unless you intend to sell the piece imminently, I wouldn't worry too much.
Most Artists I know are pretty bad at "admin" type stuff. As long as you keep gently reminding the gallery, like an email once every few weeks, I'm sure they will get fed up and sort it out.
I assume you don't have any concerns about the authenticity of the said piece?
For comparison, I submitted some applications for COA to Pest Control end of last year and got them approved today - and by all accounts, thats actually pretty swift!

(Do you?)If it's from a well respected gallery then this shouldn't be a issue. I would sit back and relax and enjoy your new purchase. The COA will follow I'm sure. who's the artist?๐๐๐

Normal Timeframe To Get Certificate Of Authenticit, by dantheman8 on Apr 3, 2018 19:32:42 GMT 1, No doubts at all about the authenticity, very large, very reputable gallery. I just don't like that the artist is being like this with allegedly multiple customers bc it could turn off alot of people and in the long run hurt his brand........

Maybe there just busy I'm sure it will come. It wouldn't put me off buying a piece of art if they said you might get the COA in the next couple of years. I would be happy owning there work. Ps who's the artist?๐๐๐
