Looks like an elbow: prices were going up, then they take off. The trend is sharply up. Is it supply? Or demand? And what the hell was I thinking in 2012? I always thought that the big turning point for him was the NYC residency in 2013. That gave him daily coverage (for a month I think) on all major news outlets worldwide. I think that it is when Banksy became a household name and demand went crazy. I remember my grandma asking if I had seen Banksy in NYC 😊

I posted on another thread previously, when the Australia dollar was on par with the US dollar (can’t remember exactly when in 2011), we sold our house and from the profit I checked with a US gallery to buy a signed Girl With Balloon. They emailed me back and it was $16kUSD.. my wife wouldn’t leave me buy it 
I think for me it all changed after he Xmas 2010 Choose Your Weapon release. They initially were trading hands for a few thousand, then sometime in 2011 it jumped quickly to $7k and on here there were various threads and people including me forced to eat the words as 7k pounds was ‘crazy paying that for a print’.. these prints kept on going up very fast, seemed all the galleries and high end collectors wanted one as there were only 25 of each and connection to harring.. they became 11k pounds, 14k, 16k etc. they got ‘hoovered up’(uk saying) fast then the rest is history and a Banksy bubble.. due to short supply all signed went up!!
Then we we saying on the forum ‘unsigned won’t go up’ ? But they did quickly also as the people who can’t afford a signed were buying up all the unsigned also... remember in 2011 an unsigned Girl With Balloon and LAugh now we’re 4k pounds (bargain!!) and it’s amazing now an unsigned Girl With Balloon is 50k pounds and there are 600 of them knocking around. That’s 30m pounds worth of unsigned Girl With Balloon prints, when they were 45k pounds at cost!

But we have to factor in that this is his most iconic work, often cited as 'Britain's most loved art work' then add Love is in the bin and you then have the a slice of art history.
