Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Deleted on Jan 25, 2015 12:25:22 GMT 1, im usually one to support the Banksy market and continued growth, however i feel IMHO that this print has gone way too far for an unsigned, i do predict it will rise further but i also feel that it will fall the hardest when prices do fall....and they will at some point. It always happens in evey commodity. Warhol rose for 10 full years before taken a dive...its inevitable, its how far prices will fall and when are the questions? no sign of any bubble bursting yet, and anyone that thinks this isnt a bubble is just stupid! i think the unsigned GWB became over priced at £10k, anyone buying at current levels would need to either really really love the print or not really care about price fluctuation...which i fully support, anyone buying to speculate and cash in would need to be carefull.... sorry to sidetrack this wanted thread... GLWTS

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Black Apple Art on Jan 25, 2015 12:42:44 GMT 1, You can type out 6 paragraphs on your opinion but it always comes down to "supply" & "demand". Facts are a continous increase in demand and no increase in supply for the last 5 years. Can't compare that to any previous scenario or example because it has never happened in the history of any living artist.

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Black Apple Art on Jan 25, 2015 21:12:57 GMT 1, I think using the "forever" term is unfair as we have discussed even the earth and sun won't last forever. How about using the term for the "foreseeable future" (lying within the range for which forecasts are possible) Anything can happen, but as stated, unless there is a large change in demand and or supply I can't see the price trajectory changing for the foreseeable future.

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by wishingiwaslucky on Jan 25, 2015 21:31:21 GMT 1, just a thought, but whilst interest rates are so low, practically nothing, I think there are also a lot of investors in the market trying to watch their stock rise instead of it sitting in the bank doing nothing. That may be a harsh non arty point, but it may be a factor too..

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Dice on Jan 25, 2015 22:33:39 GMT 1, Nothing much happened with banksy in 2014, I wonder if there will be another big stunt this year? If something else does happen or a print or whatever I am sure prices will remain high barring any worldwide disasters.
Although I must say as much as I like banksy (and we all tend to worship somewhat) I went to the Turner exhibition today and stencil art simply pales in comparison.

F**k that. (No, don't fuck it, it damages the spine and depreciates the resale value of the book). What I mean is, if you go online and look at many of the websites that have compiled images of Banksy's work, both inside and out, the shows, the installations, it's an amazing body of work. There's loads of it. So much. I know there's only a finite amount of official Banksy souvenirs you can buy, so people trade and collect those, get excited over them, etc, but I just sometimes feel like people only ever talk about the same handful of images and their current value.
Having said that, everyone can buy what they like. 'tis a free planet.

as someone who sometimes does this stuff for a living, I would be pretty wary of this kinda visual without a full breakdown of the sources
nothing personal by the way

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Deleted on Jan 26, 2015 10:52:31 GMT 1, yup, I touched on this before, specifically highlighting the record breaking hirst sale that was the final hurrah before things went bad.
the points are interesting though and there is correlation between these markets, but yer sample size and lack of transparency/ data for art sales as a whole should be taken into account. There is a PhD somewhere I read recenly on this, but will have to track it down and post up the linky- IIRC, bonds are a better benchmark to use than indices( through bonds and indices are inextricably related).
as a sales tool though, it is probabaly something i can see a gallery rolling out in its maketing / sales bumf .
anyway, this is a massive subject and will note bore anyeone with ramblings

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Dr Plip on Jan 26, 2015 11:32:14 GMT 1, We used to have customers that would buy comics, bagged and boarded, never read them and just put them into storage. I remember one guy that had every single issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, and would buy the latest from us, but told us he hadn't read an issue for about 10 years.
Others would always buy two copies. One to read, one to "keep".
The collector mentality can be strong. Especially when it comes to variants or misprints.
Edit: By the way, if anyone on here has any "scribbled on" Banksy prints or funky test prints, and fancies rubbing them in my face, I'd love to see them. I can't buy them of course, but I love stuff like that. Feel free to pm me. Confidentiality assured.

Skills I have acquired over a very long career...........of bagging comics.

Banksy • Girl With Red Balloon Print, by Deleted on Jan 30, 2015 12:06:34 GMT 1, Just a quick heads up that Banksy print "GIRL WITH BALLOON" unsigned number 289 has been lost/stolen. Pest have been informed. COA will never be issued for this number so if you hear of it for sale at somepoint in the future, let me know and you'll be handsomely rewarded !
cheers Nu
After much secret squirreling, some ip address hacking, some gangster'ish planning and help from a couple of members on here, I was able to track the stolen GWB to an address in London where it was ceremoniously retrieved without having to recourse to the aid of the police, lawyers or other such nonsense.
Thanks chaps, you know who you are.

cheers NuAfter much secret squirreling, some ip address hacking, some gangster'ish planning and help from a couple of members on here, I was able to track the stolen GWB to an address in London where it was ceremoniously retrieved without having to recourse to the aid of the police, lawyers or other such nonsense. Thanks chaps, you know who you are.
Just a quick heads up that Banksy print "GIRL WITH BALLOON" unsigned number 289 has been lost/stolen. Pest have been informed. COA will never be issued for this number so if you hear of it for sale at somepoint in the future, let me know and you'll be handsomely rewarded !
