No one would really spend £13.5k or over 6 months gross pay of the average worker for this, would they?
The paper is yellow, its not signed, the image is wife friendly which is bad enough. Its small, its dull, you'd be so disappointed when it arrives, and if you stupidly admitted to your mates how much you'd dropped on it, they would put you into a whole new category.
Though thats not what matters......... its a Banksy, the one to have, only around 500 of them left, be lucky

This I probably shouldn't confess.. i won't confess that I as a child accidentally ripped of one of those oil blobas when cuddling with Rauchenbergs goat. Licking statues it is..not prints, I'm crazy but not insane. I have friend that does amazing sculptures, I licked every single one of them... And this is just funny because it's true

I initially dismissed it as a bit chintzy but as Banksy doesn't do chintz then figured there was more to it. It's actually quite a anti consumerist message not dissimilar to "Christ with Shopping bags", the heart is such a powerful motif in our culture that we forget it's an inflatable balloon in the pic. Possibly one of the most cynical kids items out there, anyone with kids can tell you what a pain they are to come across. It's akin to the sweet rack at kids height at the supermarket checkout. You can't replace real love and attention with a shiny 5 quid inflatable balloon, and besides, it'll be gone in 60secs. Give her a real hug instead. Stressed or not. |
