Current prolific artists who put illegal art on the street, by rbrt on May 23, 2018 23:07:47 GMT 1, Is there anyone out there who has been as prolific as Banksy and Shepherd Fairey in putting illegal art on the streets across the world.
One of the reasons I like Banksy and Shepherd Fairey is that they put so much illegal art up and in very awkward places. They also had a lot of variety.
Are there any newer artists in the last 4-5 years who have done anything close to the amount they have.
To me it seems a lot of artists may do a few illegal pieces but often they might be to sell prints / originals so adverts rather than "art for the people" to just enjoy (which I have nothing against as I know artists can struggle to make a living).
Nowadays there are a few more shops / venues that let artists work legally and maybe that has meant the drive to do illegal art is reducing a bit. But I always found it great back in the days going to quite a few cities (London, Brighton, Bristol, Liverpool, Melbourne etc) and seeing Banksy's work around.
I am curious to know if anyone can recommend any new generation of street artists out there who are prolific and do illegal artwork. Or are Banksy & Shepherd Fairey the last artists so far to do that?
