Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by Winter on Aug 24, 2018 8:49:33 GMT 1, the thing that kinda bugs me is that these are editions of 100 not 55 or 35 etc... and these are giclee prints and not wood cuts... perhaps that makes a huge difference on why these prints are priced much lower than traditional Hirst spot prints. So will these pop up in price or lag behind Hirst traditional spot prints? Any thoughts?
Most normal print editions are produced in one go. I’d say these will be printed on demand in batches. With screen prints there is a cost benefit in producing in one go due to setting up the screens etc. With digital there isn’t a benefit of producing in one go whether it’s one or one hundred.

Possible, however it’s odd that HENI invitees weren’t emailed yet. It’s possible they are just now sending confirmations for receiving the AOI from email applicants.

I guess I have to stop worrying and be patient. I was just hoping to hear today as today is the 14-day deadline.

So will these pop up in price or lag behind Hirst traditional spot prints? Any thoughts? Most normal print editions are produced in one go. I’d say these will be printed on demand in batches. There would still be set up costs. Let’s face it they are all gonna sell quickly, so why print them gradually? Hirst ain’t gonna go be signing 10 then be taking a nice holiday in Swanage to return to sign another 10.

Well, they are certainly priced attractively...IMO below what they will be worth. What hirst prints sell for below £2700 to this scale and appearance? When you look at a piece of art on a wall sometimes the technique doesn’t come into it vs the image. Let’s ask it another way...would you rather have a giclee Nola or have a screen print of golf sale ?
It all depends what woodcut

Nola was heavy in its reference, and attaches itself to an important time in US's history.
Depending on my mood, I usually prefer one over the other.

I agree, I prefer golf sale to Nola. But then, I am not that fond of girl with red balloon either. Why that commands silly prices, compared to happy choppers, for example, is beyond me. But I do think that these Hirst prints are an attractive purchase, if you like Hirst’s work, and you can afford them. Those that don’t like Hirst’s work (not referring to you blerd, but in general) may think these to be overpriced ugly tat. I happen to be in the former camp. I think the H4 pieces in particular are quite beautiful. It would be a pleasure if those that like them might buy without criticism, and that those who don’t are left not to without suggestion that they are missing out.

The best looking one will not be the first to sell out.
