when i see perspex covering them, i think they are now broken and should be trashed. years ago in Melbourne (cant remember the name of the street art road. Its on the tip of my tongue) there was a banksy that had been covered ( i have some pics somewhere) and someone had poured paint down the back of it destroying the art work. It worked for me.
