But if you want to ask anyone anything outside a particular market or hobby they often don't know much... i.e. many don't know even the most advertised/ seen on media outlets such as Banksy, Hirst
It would be like my buddy (because I don't care) asking you your thoughts on the Chiron Sport... how many know what that is without googling it.... and it has a value much higher than anything Pejac will ever put out.

For what itโs worth, I bought a drawing (or more accurately, my wife did) despite us never having spoken to Max before, and we have zero influence with anyone. Even our dog takes no notice of us. However we havenโt actually received it yet so perhaps we should be kissing arse a little more.
Saying that, I donโt disagree with what youโre saying to some degree. I found the tone of some of the communication and the implied exclusivity a little distasteful.

He knows every piece would sell, why send the catalog to 300+ people for 40 pieces of art? F*ck that guy. He just manipulates the market to create hype and jack up prices for an artist nobody has ever heard of outside of here.
Best thing I ever did was trade a Pejac I bought on secondary market for a real artist print; Marc Chagall.

Anyone who requested the catalogue, go it (as far as I know). The fact that there weren't enough works to go around, simply shows that there were many more collectors wanting to buy. It's really no different than any "big" show (see Ryan Hewett's latest show as a perfect example).
BTW - I know of someone who put in for a Pejac sketch, having never got a print on release, and got one! So people should really relax with the conspiracy theories.
And Max isn't "hyping" Pejac at all, he doesn't need to...Pejac's works (and this forum) are taking care of that!

I'd imagine that many are aiming to flip it so they're keeping quiet. Judging from IG pictures, it seems like the visitors of the show were mainly forum members. To me, I agree that he's a hyped forum artist, but not without a boatload of talent. I loved the pieces from his first show , this new print, and that Apnea piece was something else. But definitely can't imagine an artist gaining worldwide recognition without getting into the main gallery game. The schtick seems profitable now, but who knows if it's sustainable. Also, I wonder if the continuous environmental theme will lose its freshness eventually. |

I see the point too. But that's the game. I don't think many artists made it big on talent alone. And this thread is just stoking up the heat, playing directly into the buzz.
I'm not sure there is another example of quite such a big fish in a small pond though. What auction results? If a pejac went to auction it would be by someone on here, sold to someone on here. And not to a proper house either. I suspect no proper house would bother.

I see the point too. But that's the game. I don't think many artists made it big on talent alone. And this thread is just stoking up the heat, playing directly into the buzz.
I'm not sure there is another example of quite such a big fish in a small pond though. What auction results? If a pejac went to auction it would be by someone on here, sold to someone on here. And not to a proper house either. I suspect no proper house would bother.

He just manipulates the market to create hype and jack up prices for an artist nobody has ever heard of outside of here. Best thing I ever did was trade a Pejac I bought on secondary market for a real artist print; Marc Chagall. He focuses on the placement of pieces, not just the sale. They're better off in the #BOBCollection than anywhere else.

My rule is if Phillips don't sell it it isn't safe to invest in. Pejac is not sold there. |
