Pejac • A Forest Print, by saint on Jul 26, 2018 12:06:10 GMT 1, While I have no interest in Pejac's work and don't particularly like his prints, I have dealt with Max a number of of times, buying work by Saner, Aryz, and Jaz to name a few, and have always found him very easy to chat to, nice to deal with, and enthusiastic about the artists he represents. We have discussed artists hardly ever mentioned on this forum (Inti, Liqen for example) who paint wonderful large scale murals and he was interested in chatting with me and knowing about my pieces and my reasons for collecting these artists.
My point: we all have different experiences with people, and everyone should make there own mind up about the people they are buying from, so thought I would post a positive review to counter the negative ones.

Pejac • A Forest Print, by kaos on Jul 26, 2018 12:22:53 GMT 1, As a baby collector can someone please explain to me why is it OK for someone to buy a print for let's say £150 and then sell it a week later on the secondary market for say £4000 and not OK for the artist to sell his original piece of work for let's say £8000. Bugger me, someone needs to stop your baby collecting habit. I've also struggled with this issue though. Everyone seemingly hates flippers, but no artist will either release their print at market value or go with timed edition prints. Pejac could have priced these at 3.5k, sold 80 over the course of the show and scrapped the lottery. Of course, then there is no hype and no golden lottery ticket built into the release. Without the prospect of a couple of g if you win, I suspect most wouldn't bother. At £1000 a piece, I recon all 80 prints would have sold on the VIP night. That's £80,000 in hand and no crap from sore losers. For an original piece there are plenty who will pay £10k and much much over that. People did do in London and in Paris. I am sure Max and Pejac do not need this kind of name calling and mud slinging that has been happening here and why because they did not get a print which they intended to sell for huge profits. It's disgraceful.

Most of the new releases I buy are from galleries. More photography than urban here, so things are a bit different. The pricing is quite rich a source, and certainly not a fraction of the market value. You are further up the line to buy depending on your dealings in the past.
As you say, no reason at all why this drop could not have been managed in a similar way. To VIPs at whatever price point they want.
I suspect that a lottery is a fairer outcome, and yields fewer sore losers than just placing them at the VIP night.
Either way, when the artist is leaving 3k on the table for every print sold there are going to be some unhappy customers. Fine. Whatever.

I don't think they give a shit. The fact that people chat whatever about it makes it grow.

And so did Russ with his single ticket. Just like others did for Banksy. That's just the nature of the beast.
