Mr Brainwash Captain America , by J0NNY on Aug 16, 2018 3:22:23 GMT 1, People outside this forum actually buy brainwash crap as 'investments'...brilliant, I say we should encourage that it removes some people chasing true art like pejac or pez. True art? Lol. Do you think collectors of Picasso and Matisse are shaking in their boots of the true art by the such of Pez?
I wasnโt sure if he was being sarcastic or not

True art? Lol. Do you think collectors of Picasso and Matisse are shaking in their boots of the true art by the such of Pez? I'd argue that classic artists like Picasso and Matisse are partly 'classic' because there were just not that many people making art. Same goes for van Gogh and whoever you want to name. There were a few people painting stuff and they were regarded as 'the best', even tho a lot of the classic stuff is plain ugly crap, like Matisse. But it was great art for the time it was created in. Just like an Iphone 1 was amazing when it came out.
I'd say that what Pez makes is infinitely better than all of the crap Matisse shat out.

Pez is a genius. His work is superb and an upcoming star. He is original, his work is original. My point was that brainwash has nothing on proper urban artists.

I would reason that the ONLY part Brainwash has in these pieces is the thumbprint on the reverse, and possibly not even that. I doubt he has anything to do with any aspect from conceptual to execution. I would be shocked if he's the one that's even taking 10 seconds to splash some paint on these.
It's a massive inside joke that's somehow become a multi million dollar "art" factory.

Mr Brainwash Captain America , by Not 4 The Thril on Aug 24, 2018 19:01:42 GMT 1, I'm not a fan of Mr Brainwash's mass produced mishmash of iconography. I thought he was funny in Exit Through The Giftshop and am surprised he is still cranking out art.
Do you think if somewhere down the line it is really revealed that the inception of Mr Brainwash was all a huge prank by Banksy and ETTGS was a hoax-- will Mr Brainwash's art go up in value or down?
Up because its revealed to be by Banksy or down because everyone got duped?

Care to explain a little? How does one rationalize it?

Just watch the speed at which Matisse cut those before you write them off. And why. And the crazy shapes & colours when the whole wall is covered. And lots of things!
