www.framers.co.uk These are the guys I used for Banksy Flags and Dolk Che. Their website isn't great but they are based about 10 mins walk from where I live in Wimbledon. Usually 2 week turnaround time. Flags was done to musuem standard (anti reflective glass etc etc) and cost ยฃ160.00. Apparantly they do a lot of work for galleries.

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by a4mnt on May 21, 2007 12:36:14 GMT 1, I can totally recommend this guy to anyone in SW London : Tito @ LL frames on 07870 318127.
He says he has 18 years experience of framing. He's a good guy and will come to your home if you are not too far away from Croydon. I'm in Brixton and he delivered my framed copy of the Hick on a Sunday afternoon.
The framing was great, acid free, thin black metal frame with a double depth (not width) border, which looks fab. Total size around 120cm by 50 cm and only charged me ยฃ60.
I got a quote from Brockwell arts in Tulse Hill, who had framed my Banksy Barcode and they were 2.5 times his price, plus I have no car so it would have been extra for a taxi back home!
He now has another 5 or 6 prints to do for me. So very happy as sometimes it seems a bit stupid to be paying more for a frame than it does for the print, but theres no way i'm hanging any of my prints in anything other than purpose made frames.

They have some big clients on their website, but I don't know if that means anything. And they say they work to the framers guild specifications.

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by grebo on Mar 9, 2008 12:04:51 GMT 1, I used Leonard Villa on Caledonian Road N1. They are old school. They don't take credit cards. They even trusted me to send a cheque after I took the goods from their shop. Mind you, I had trusted them with my Banksy print.
I was recommended to use Leonard Villa by a few of the employees at POW.

Yes I did, with less than great results...
They framed my Bomb Middle England (before I had a clue what "conservation standard" meant) and it was pressed up against the glass.
They also framed a Ryan McGinness print of mine - that had to go back 3 times before they got it right because the glass they had was flawed.
That said they are nice chaps (and reasonably priced) - I just think you need to tell them exactly what it is you want - rather than them making suggestions like Gary (Mister Frameman) does.
I now use Gary for my quality frame jobs, but I wouldn't hesitate in using them for something I was a bit less precious about.

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by ziggy on Nov 15, 2006 23:19:41 GMT 1, I have a couple of questions I hope you guys can help me with.
Firstly does anyone know if 'non' acid free foam board actually has any long term issues when storing prints. I intend to use acid free Mylar sleeves with foam board inserted but acid free foam board is difficult to find (especially at A1 size). As the back of the print is on the board can I take a risk? As anyone experienced problems? Do you know where I can buy it in the UK?
The other question is about framing, can anyone recommend a good framer in Central London (West End) or in EC1? I've had 2 quotes for a frame of 80cm x 80cm with UV glass and they came out at about ยฃ170, is this about right?
Cheers, me dears!

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by KaL976 on Nov 16, 2006 1:39:25 GMT 1, Don't do it
Only use acid free board/tissue paper - otherwise over time it will damage the print.
Apparently Mylar sleeves are the way to go & if you need to use stiffeners, ph7 backboard isn't that expensive really.

If you are that way you should go see Lenny Villa on Caledonian Rd, N1. I have recently posted examples of prints he has framed for me in the Get you Banksy's out for the lads thread.

They are very knowledgable and the service excellent. Strange opening times Wednesday to Saturday but very very reliable! They can also cut the very thick mounts which really seems to suit the Banksy look.
