LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by Pattycakes on Jan 8, 2017 15:43:48 GMT 1, Also Leonard Villa in Holloway is an excellent option. He frames for a lot of the top galleries in London, is affordable and only uses conservation materials. I use him all the time.

Has anyone used these guys? I'm considering switching from my current framers and giving them a go.
Feel free to DM me if you prefer discretion. I'd appreciate any feedback. I've been using Derbyshire of late for your reference.
Thanks

Sorry I don't.
Having had quite a big issue recently with a framer I've used for years and some damage to a print, I'm only using Graham going forward. Pest Control recommended him when one of my pieces was damaged and he did an excellent job fixing it. Whilst at his studio I saw some of his framing - lots and lots of Banksys, all framed brilliantly.

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by purpleandred on Jun 8, 2018 16:01:27 GMT 1, I wasn't aware that he offered framing as part of the service? Always had him pegged as a restorer of damaged paper. I'm after bespoke high end framing as opposed to pre-casts off a shelf/catalogue so too speak. I'll have to give him a call. Thank You.

No personal experience with Frame London, regrettably.
But I would be interested in the reason(s) for you considering switching from your current framers.
Darbyshire almost seems like a final destination, where a collector might eventually end up after a long journey of poorer framing experiences with other outfits. [The same goes for John Jones.]
__________
Have you been disappointed at all with the service received from Darbyshire, or their value-for-money?
Or is it more a case of just wanting to try a different business that also has an impressive client list?
One very minor point that struck me was the Frame London website (in the Frames section) describing a Louise Bourgeois multiple (I have been to hell and back) as a Tracey Emin. That says nothing about their quality of framing, but it does indicate a lack of attention to detail โ at least by the individual responsible for the website.

Hi Met
More the later. I've never been disappointed with Derbyshire and they're my first choice. The only issue with them is that they're not open on Saturdays which makes collection of larger pieces tricky.

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by psycho666 on Jul 9, 2018 16:17:39 GMT 1, Iโm looking for some recommendations for framers in South East London that also do local delivery.
Iโve got a small collection of art prints but with a low to mid-range value (ยฃ100-300 price range), not Banksy, Harland Miller or Damien Hirst ยฃ1k+ values, but Iโm finding it hard to get them framed for a price that reflects the value to the print.
They donโt need to have museum quality glass but I would like UV protection and framed to a conservation standard.
Am I being unrealistic to get them framed at a price lower than that of someone paying to have a more expensive print framed?
Many thanks,
Psycho666

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by longshanks on Jul 10, 2018 8:58:16 GMT 1, Personally I recommend Mark @ PFG but unsure about the collection thing.
Re the price; Iโm afraid the cost of the print is irrelevant. Itโs the cost of the conservation materials. Itโs just one of those things to get your head round in the beginning; that the framing costs might be higher than the value of the print. But like legend said, sometimes cheap prints become expensive prints. And good framing makes all the difference. You really donโt want the hassle of restoration that can sometimes be the result of cutting corners with framing

I have tried contacting PFG a few times but I never get a response, which is a shame as I really like their work and follow them on Instagram. Maybe they don't do delivery, as I always ask about that.
I'm happy to send the prints but would need delivery, unless they are very local.
I'll try contacting a few other framers and hopefully I can find someone more local to me.
Cheers,

Conservation framing is'nt cheap but always worth it in the long run.....
I am sure you can work out a deal if framing several prints at the same time.

LONDON Framers โข Who do you Recommend? , by Deleted on Aug 21, 2018 8:51:27 GMT 1, i wouldn't f**k about with framers. i love near Rochester, kent. its has about 4 framers in the high street.
So have a look in the windows, and go in and have a chat.... follow forum guidance... is it all PH neutral, uv, fully reversible framing, then ask... so if I decide to sell it and bring it back to you, can you remove from the frame and it looks like new? Yep they say of course we are in the framing guild..... cool, lets do it.
4 years later advertise the framed bit of art on ebay, guy buys it and wants it shipped to Norway
No problem, i'll have a quick look and see if i can remove it from the frame myself (saves a journey)
Opens frame and the print has been stuck to the mount with shiny parcel tape
Refund buyer and sulk
