its an artist called sandra, she does prints of womens faces covered in ripped up comic books.

why?

Not a clue but people buy them and say that it's good, i think its a young persons market, not for old c**t like me. Anyhow someone thought it might be an idea to do a 3D sculpture of a womens face covered in ripped up bits of comics

Because she thinks its a good idea and everyone in instagram when they see it says its fantastic, and she believes them and when they sell out she will do more and make lots of money

This is most certainly a statment saying she´s not an artist but a decorator. It´s what we Norwegians call "pynt", and has no use except from standing on a shelf or in a window for a year, then move to the childrens room for eventually ending up in the basement. Not impressed.

I can see these being pulled. I never ever (apart from Mr Brainwash ) slag off an artist, but really this is total rubbish. If i gave one of these to my kids they would say, dad were not babies anymore....

I get that you may not like it but your point about people liking it and then buying it which will mean she will do more...... Yeah thats how most business models work, be it art or anything else. You soon know if something doesn't work when it doesn't sell.  

This looks horrible, haha. Why not just make it digital instead of hand carving that monstrosity. I would have jumped if it was actually a clean image.

You may be right, but I would be amazed if Mighty Jaxx put this out. While not the best, they do generally put out a good product. Unless these are prototypes and they're doing some significant improvements. Based on the number of pics released though, I doubt that's the case.

It's certainly very starck. In some ways the starckness and simplicity works and in others it doesn't.

It reminds me a bit of Dali's White eagle bronze.

I would slightly disagree on her ability to paint. Most of her originals are quality *this work isn't helping any arguement* - I do think she's milked the whole let's throw comics on a woman's face thing and each release IMO seems to be a little more of a let down than the last.

If only JP from COA galerie still hangs out here (or hopefully he still does), he could have read this thread and helped to knock some sense into SC or the manufacturers of this piece since he and SC are long time partners.
