I have spoken with Bren this morning. He’s taking some time away from the forum. Very great shame imo. His posts were a breath of fresh air on here, which I always looked out for. I hope he’s back soon.

Don't understand why you would delete your account if you want some time of. Anyways…. hope he will be back. Got some old man house music lined up for him.

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by caruso on Aug 27, 2018 15:49:20 GMT 1, I wouldn't be surprised if the price had been revised down prior to the release due to the bad reception she faced. I do not think I'd have one if it was free.

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by Extra Ball on Aug 27, 2018 15:59:14 GMT 1, I wouldn't be surprised if the price had been revised down prior to the release due to the bad reception she faced. I do not think I'd have one if it was free. when the finished product was presented to her, she accepted her marketing. I imagine that this artist has a minimum of artistic sensitivity and has realized that it was a dung. Nevertheless, she puts it on sale .... so she takes her buyers for idiots (who I think, are really if they buy that). Why do you want her to lower her price? she's pocketing a nice bunch of dollars and banging on her belly.

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by Flashback on Aug 27, 2018 16:57:03 GMT 1, Think I saw them on Mighty Jaxx's IG story. You may be right, but I would be amazed if Mighty Jaxx put this out. While not the best, they do generally put out a good product. Unless these are prototypes and they're doing some significant improvements. Based on the number of pics released though, I doubt that's the case. It says they're by Mighty Jaxx on her IG. Only bought one thing from MJ previously (Goin's Bad apple liquid erosion red) which is very well made in comparison. They've made a mess of these.

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by chevyav53 on Aug 27, 2018 17:35:10 GMT 1, Mighty Jaxx has great quality. One of the biggest complaints is delays and that is usually because of quality control. That might be why they have not said one thing about these if they are from them. I am on all their notices, in the VIP program etc... and there has not been one thing on this.

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by moron on Aug 27, 2018 21:23:54 GMT 1, It's amazing how people get so hung up over some decorative sculptures.
It's no different than a wemyss pig or a lladro that Carmella Soprano boasted about owning. It's a decorative object, ltd edition like those colelctors plates that were all the rage a few years ago.
There is no point pricing it lower as then people won't wantt to buy it. It's all about a certain snob value.
Why shouldn't Chevrier churn these out and sell them. She has created a market for this stuff. She can have the money. I don't see people moaning about Ikea making millions from tat made in some far off land where wages are low.
and finally about her paintings. Two words.
Chuck Close.

Don't get me wrong, I agree with you. I just think she was intending to sell these horrible things for more money, but then realized it'd be a hard sale and therefore must have lowered her prices in a dehydrate attempt to try to sell them to - once again I agree with you - idiots.

just surprising because her paintings are beautiful so one would expect the same level for all her artwork.

I think sometimes artists and galleries get too hung up on creating a quick sell out for editions and it can be better in the long run to create an edition that sells over time and in actual shops or boutiques or whatever hipsters call these things these days , galleries, thats the word, rather than online. It can get the artist recognised more by the general public person in the street rather than flippers and uber driving tech startup bitcoin gambling quick return merchants.

Unfortunately in today's mad fast society not selling out upon release is viewed by many - artists and collectors alike - as a statement of the intrinsic artist's value (in both meanings of the word).
The eternal race for quick sell outs (pun intended) is not beneficial to art in general, with artist putting out more and more expensive trash and collectors missing out on genuinely talented artists who do not have the luxury of time to nurture their gift because of financial constraints and increased pressure.
Interestingly enough, this is the major drawback of an ever faster society ruled by instantaneity, and the same goes for many artistic professions - just ask musicians.

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by daveart on Aug 29, 2018 18:15:13 GMT 1, These will sell out same day or next. Sandra has 65K followers on her IG account. pretty sure there's enough people with $300-$400 to spend to snap these up. Plenty of people think $300 is a decent evening out with friends and a bottle of wine or two. Some of you are taking this a bit too seriously and $300 is not a life and death investment decision. These are pretty reasonably priced and really not worth the effort you guys are putting into knocking them and Sandra. It wont impact their selling out IMO and we will know by end of day 31st.
then when they sell out the thundering herd will move on to: 'the buyers are tasteless fools' ok .. i'm pretty sure they dont care. Look all the while people on this forum have been talking about Sandra's demise for two years and she keeps doing more and more and getting more and more recognition for being an artist that gets up, does her best, is pleasant about it, and seems to be a good person. whats all the anxiety about on here? other than just for the sport of being mean spirited about her efforts.

But I think Sandra has a lot of supporters and fans on this forum, which also accounts for why some people may be disappointed in these sculptures, since her paintings are lovely and so many people have high expectations....

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by acortellese on Aug 30, 2018 11:47:43 GMT 1, Hi all, we spoke so much about those pieces that she got lot of interest, and that I think she should appreciate. Any kind of interest, I mean, should be appreciated. We made the buzz.
While I appreciate her work, they are not my favorites one so I would like at least to see if they will fly away quickly. Here it is my dilemma. Today at 6 PM (Central Europe Summer Time) Sandra will release her sculptures and they will draw the Champions League groups ... what to follow live?
Hope I calculated it right, sorry to derail a bit the topic.

I can literally hear her laughing all the way to the bank... .. you dont think she really gets all the money right ?
she has to pay to have them made, shipped, etc so lets say she gets a margin of 20% -30% over producton cost for small batches ? for easy math lets say $50 per item. 600X$50 = $30,000 thats still a lot of money you yell ! but, doesnt her gallery also get paid. ok knock off 1/3 for the gallery to manage the sale and handle customer complaints and shipping.etc. so now she is down to $20,000 - That's a lot of money you yell . but she surely has 100 hours of time in making the art, meetings, planing, working with the company to make the things, promote them sell them. and right back down to $200 an hour over months of planning - or basically - what a plumber charges per hour.
She is definitely making $$ on these ..but lets put the pitchforks down and just let her be a successful artist.

Sandra Chevier Sculpture Release , by qest on Aug 30, 2018 20:42:08 GMT 1, $195k for 600 pieces of utter toot! Man this release really goes to show the state of "urban art" world in 2018. Those calculations all seem quite arbitrary, but if you're going to net out Sandra's earnings then I think you should do the same for the plumber who charges at the same rate as Sandra's hourly take-home.

She is a hard working successful woman. people seem to have a problem with it.

I hope she can find continued financial success while evolving her work.
