INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by Express Post on Dec 20, 2018 22:09:47 GMT 1, No way of telling what is going to happen in a year or two. No one actually needs these. But he is definitely one of this year's darlings of the flipper market.
There is one on the bay for $3250 ATM. If it goes up further then please feel free to revise the numbers. But this release was meant to eat into flippers' margins. And let's be real here, the amount being made per set of tiles can be earned within a day or two by the majority by just going to work.
There is not a doubt in my mind these will go up. Invader was introduced to lots of people recently who have no interest in urban art, period. These people are looking to make a quick buck and do not have the capital to hold pieces nor do they have the desire to do so.
Yes, prices will be low due to the volume released recently, but the market will stabilize over time. In no way will these be available anywhere near cost in a year or 2.

Edition is huge.. shocked that it doesn't seem to be taken into consideration here (only here mind u as eBay seems to know that besides a few early buyers that we can't prove are real) Not as big as Banksy releasing 600 unsigned prints though , many artists release editions larger than 300. 50 more than a previous release years back isn't that substantial IMO. His fan base is much larger now for sure. Time will tell. Good discussions though.

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by Express Post on Dec 20, 2018 22:15:04 GMT 1, Lol. I know the type. Bape, Supreme, off white and yeezys. All about the hash tags and lit life.

You seem to forget that we live in a society where flipping is a profession and people buy stuff just to post on IG to flex...with zero savings, house, assets etc. Whatever makes people happy right?

Agreed good discussion.. but we can all agree that unlike years ago, none of these are being used or removed from package.. this full edition of 300will no doubt stay intact in collectors and resellers hands

The packaging looked as though i may have been able to peel the sticker up and slide it out all intact, but that is not the case as it's paper. Would be great if they were plastic stickers that wouldn't tare, allowing you to remove and insert the piece fully back into intact packaging.

The smart play is to keep it sealed if you want maximum value...but why not enjoy it for 5,10 years displayed proudly at a 20%(?) loss in value.

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by yojoe007 on Dec 20, 2018 22:32:45 GMT 1, Woke up to see I had completely missed out, EST. Drats. Anyway- for anyone who bagged one (the super white not off white)—I would be interested in potentially trading a Jonas Wood Vote print. Prob Kit plus x for Vote. Would be nice UA thread synergy. PM me.
...there are two colourways? I saw on Invader's post what looked like two colours, but thought it was due to the adhesive layer on some of them

I just spent £1200 getting stuff out of frames for potential buyers, as framed stuff doesnt sell well so just wanted to ask if it was the same for invader stuff like this that comes in a bag, does it devalue taking it out?
I want to frame it, but i'll have a think if framing it costs me £2k+
wouldnt you?

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by yojoe007 on Dec 20, 2018 22:34:38 GMT 1, So just say you pop it on eBay and sell it for $3500 (optimistically). After eBay and PayPal fees, that brings it to $3010. The cost converted to USD is $2752.50. So $257.50 is your profit. Percentage is 9.3%. So you really happy with a 0.093x return? If you find a buyer outside eBay, then at $3500 sale price you will take home a $607.50 profit, or roughly 22%. Anyway you do you and keep partying hard brozef/broski. Yep i've been partying hard with the 4 I scored this morning.
This is definitely the case with the Versailles. Not seeing much margin in them at all, vs. Sunsets

Like I said, there is a strategy to what artists like Invader are doing. He is not going to purposely kill his market and have his clientele lose interest. There is a method to this madness. It's a great time for invader collectors to pick up amazing prints like sunset and this kit for an extremely reasonable price prior to the show opening. I was able to pick up multiple releases and couldn't be happier about the costs, but in now way do I think that prices will always be this good, they will undoubtedly blast back up over time and he will be more valuable than ever.
...prior to the show opening?
Are you saying you got a Sunset and this kit pre-release?

There's a period in between the sentences. I read it the way you did too initially but I'm pretty sure he wasn't implying he got some VIP treatment from OTI...unless of course he purchased an OG.

Think he meant prices are still reasonable prior to show opening because afterwards his prices will skyrocket like PEJAC. He needs some work on sentence composition but I really doubt a VIP would openly admit to having access to pre-sale without knowingly jeopardizing future purchases.
First rule of VIP pre-sale club...

Prices were higher prior to the show opening. Prints and Kits were more expensive. The new releases have provided a lot of collectors new and old affordable pieces. If he simply released 1 print or 1 kit, the market would still be fairly high IMO. The market is flooded now, and it is a great time to buy even after retail.
No, I'm not VIP. I just didn't have 4500+ for a print before the show or 6k Plus for a new kit.
So for $4300 I now have an amazing Kit and a print. Both of which would have cost me somewhere in the ballpark of $10,000 before the show.
I still think that even after retail, right now is a great time to buy. If you can get this kit for $3500 right now and a nice Sunset Print for $3000, it is still far less than what a print and a kit would have cost before the show.
Sorry for the poor grammar

So whether buying online or in store you are on the hook for the same amount.
Upside for online store purchase is the free shipping.
Upside for in-store purchase, you have it to enjoy right now.

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by 19818914 on Dec 21, 2018 0:36:28 GMT 1, Not as big as Banksy releasing 600 unsigned prints though , many artists release editions larger than 300. 50 more than a previous release years back isn't that substantial IMO. His fan base is much larger now for sure. Time will tell. Good discussions though. Agreed good discussion.. but we can all agree that unlike years ago, none of these are being used or removed from package.. this full edition of 300will no doubt stay intact in collectors and resellers hands
I pledge to take it out of the wrapper. I haven’t done so yet because I don’t want finger prints on it before I figure out what sort of framing I want done.

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by thos on Dec 21, 2018 0:37:11 GMT 1, Anyone else who had issues with their credit card accepting this purchase, I would advise you to check in on your credit card status online, to see what their fraud policy may have done. After my 3 (3!!! WTF!!!) attempts to purchase were blocked by my credit card co., they'd actually put in some sort of restriction on the card without notifying me, so I had to call in and tell them that "yes, that was me who was attempting to place a purchase" and "yes, please unblock my CC."
BTW, this is the same card I'd used to buy the Invader book, and who knows if that would have been allowed to go through (that one is still only a temporary authorization, and hadn't gone through yet).
Anyone else who had issues with their credit card accepting this purchase, I would advise you to check in on your credit card status online, to see what their fraud policy may have done. INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by yojoe007 on Dec 21, 2018 0:42:51 GMT 1, Agreed good discussion.. but we can all agree that unlike years ago, none of these are being used or removed from package.. this full edition of 300will no doubt stay intact in collectors and resellers hands I pledge to take it out of the wrapper. I haven’t done so yet because I don’t want finger prints on it before I figure out what sort of framing I want done.
Feel free to do so as it has a protective film you have to remove after installation!

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by Arty Farty 15 on Dec 21, 2018 3:21:29 GMT 1, Biggest urban art drop of the year bar none. This 8am UK time drop is the biggest since the banksy soup cans/sales end v2 saga of last year. I think anybody on here that has taken the time to create an urban art account, yet claims this “isn’t for them” is talking ball-locks and clearly in FOMO territory. Congrats to all who bagged it.

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by streetartger on Dec 21, 2018 8:12:23 GMT 1, Not as big as Banksy releasing 600 unsigned prints though , many artists release editions larger than 300. 50 more than a previous release years back isn't that substantial IMO. His fan base is much larger now for sure. Time will tell. Good discussions though. Agreed good discussion.. but we can all agree that unlike years ago, none of these are being used or removed from package.. this full edition of 300will no doubt stay intact in collectors and resellers hands don't think so... for sure, I am going to remove the kit from the package since it will be displayed. And IF, in years to come, I should ever consider selling it and receive a 10% lower price because I unpacked it - who cares - I will still make a good profit but enjoyed the piece for all these year. Can't get any better than that...

What ideas do you guys have for framing? I was thinking of having it sit in a plexi box similar to those mosaic book covers at the show.

I never frame them and kept them as art ( anyway opended packs loose a lot of their value, remember that, some of my firends made regrets opening their kits - It's just my advise, each his own, anyway I find this one better under the pack than unframed ( colors are too flashy ) . It gives it a vintage thing.
Do we frame books ?

Yes, Invader does frame (titled) books, in perspex box ;-)
