INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by 19818914 on Nov 20, 2018 1:08:41 GMT 1, I’m glad it wasn’t released the same day as the opening. I was able to enjoy my time around people who actually enjoy art.

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by nottheway on Nov 20, 2018 1:29:12 GMT 1, Some flippers are not individual. they are group pf people. I learned that when i was in the line, 2 young kids ahead and 3 kids behind me are all flippers. there's 3-4 boss man checking these kids every 30 mins and telling them which one you need to get. I asked them "which one are you getting?" one kid said " I'm getting a white Alien poster" I was like "yeah me too" they just work for those guys and don't even know the artist.
when they get close to the entrance, their boss came back in the line again and handed the cash to each kid and let them buy them. Two ladies at the shop don't even give a shit about it.

For sure. It’s all bullshit. Even though 90 percent of the line yesterday was people looking to make a quick buck, are we any better?

Very interesting sorties in the last comments about the night or we. Thank you Concerning flippers, It’s not unusual. Sometimes there is boss, sometimes not.. Sometimes it could bro or cousins from the same family, other times crew. They do this as gangs, I mean they are organized. In Uk I know some doing this, they even can cross the Channel or Uk, to get more than one prints. so it’s not exceptional if you can see at the end, in the streets, some holding 3, 4,5 tubes in the arms ! It’s why you can see, then, on eBay the prints under different sellers ( with few stars of course ) . Can we blame then ? No that’s it, it’s our world, it’s a market and where there is a market, some are more specialized in « how to make money with no risks » . It’s existed since years with concert tickets, or other things where you can make money. They just spoil the spectacle, the queue, that are enough hard when you are waiting since jours under the snow or the sun.

Okay- There were a few flippers in the crowd- I was there Both days and flew in from Detroit for the show. While I can't speak for the kids behind you- I can speak up for the two kids in front of me as I spent Saturday with them from about 10 AM to 9PM. I can say with 100% certainty that they are fans who are making wise investments in many blue-chip artists. You won't see their prints up for sale anywhere any time soon. I can tell the kid Bros. are genuinely more excited about the artwork as we were talking about framing our pieces. Anyone know if they make Glow in the Dark Frames? That would be dope! Score +1 highflyer!

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by Sweet Fanny Adams on Nov 20, 2018 10:17:55 GMT 1, People getting all precious about people flipping art, if it were crypto, houses, gold, shares, or other high value items, they would be considered cool/interesting. Not condoning it, but I rather if someone is going to flip, they earn that right to make a few bucks, just a shame it wasn't raining while they queued.

But how many homeless people have you walked past today on the way to your studio or to go get a loaf and a pint of milk? How many traders feed off other peoples misfortunes?

If you want to get really pedantic, there might not be as many homeless people as would suit your logic.... but millions of people are charged extortionate rents just because some guy owns 100s of houses or entire streets.
A bit like when someone lists a £1000 print on eBay for triple the money. That's like me paying £900 pm rent, when the mortgage is 50% of that.
Tbh I don't really care, but trying to give flippers the moral high ground just isn't gonna cut it.

There is no moral high ground because flipping luxury items to deep pocketed buyers is not an issue of morality... Or even a real world issue at all.

INVADER first solo show in Los Angeles since 2005, by 19818914 on Nov 20, 2018 12:40:42 GMT 1, What really gets my blood boiling is when someone sells a work of art for several times the original cost after enjoying it on their wall for years. It's no longer new at that point and you've already got some enjoyment out of it, so why be greedy and try to profit?

I see your point. But out of curiosity, will you resell your house at cost one day?

If there were 50% flippers, there would be over 100 of these on ebay, which would be good for everyone since the prints would be closer to cost with that much supply.

If there were 50% flippers, there would be over 100 of these on ebay, which would be good for everyone since the prints would be closer to cost with that much supply.
It’s 2018. Kids use Instagram to flip nowadays.
I count about 25 prints listed or sold on ebay. Thats about 10% of the 250 (assuming 50 were not sold) on the instaflip. Maybe add another 5-10% is 15-20% "flippers". Did they let you get a second colorway? Too bad I already have that one. Looking for white.
