Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by Graham H on Jan 4, 2019 14:48:20 GMT 1, Cheers matt and good to hear the lengths that are possible to take with the Whaam! piece..I still would say the original is still my favourite all time art piece..Ive stood and stared at it many many times in the Tate.. ( and for some reason every time i go and see it i feel the need to take more pictures on my phone for no reason at all.. why do i do this ?? ) and every time i see different little things the artist has done that go together to make the combined piece.. it is a priceless piece for me.. and a piece that fits in to the status of Iconic.
I actually framed my 4 Panel Love the same as my Whaam ( see pic below ) as again i wanted to keep it looking like a larger single piece. Ive seen this framed in several different ways ( chromed frame, natural wood frame ) .. again showing how things look very different with different framing choices..
Whilst not a new piece, ive had a move around so its in a new place, so feels new again!
Thanks for the kind words
G
Graham H re:authenticity there is no 100% on these as you know ! Mine has good provenance, and has been inspected by expert restorers to gauge the paper and printing, as well as appraised by 2 big auction houses that would not risk selling fakes (which is why they barely ever list these)...that’s about as close as I can get unless the heirs decide to authenticate again (I wish...) I really like what you did with the framing, as you pointed out, you are much closer to the original with your spacing and no frills border. I took the liberty of a spacing them, and visually I don’t regret. This is such a strong image that it stands out pretty much whatever you do. PS : speaking of non urban, still well jealous of your Indiana Love Quad, looking for one but prices have gone mental since his death :-(

Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by h.dupa on Jan 4, 2019 15:07:32 GMT 1, Been a quiet year but this Bridget Riley canvas that arrived right at the start of 2018 was a definite highlight. Love the Bright Riley but I can't believe you put it in such a horrible and incongruous frame! Taste is a strange this. Personally i like it very much.

2018 was pretty quiet for me. Mostly bargin hunting. My favorite pickup is probably this Frankenthaler poster. Original silkscreen same as true edition.

Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by Coach on Jan 4, 2019 15:58:23 GMT 1, It has been done before, in previous years, but not for 2018. Great idea, with so much negativity recently. As for my favourite buy, I had wanted a Miss Van piece for a long time. I was delighted to pick up this drawing from her recent retrospective in Paris. http://instagr.am/p/Bl52Q7ZlEOc My bargain of last year was to pick up this huge painting by Case in the recent Chiswick auction. http://instagr.am/p/Brnty7UF1bE Great case, same era as mine. Was it you or wizz that had the teeth ?
Hi Carl. Which Case do you have? As for teeth, It’s now mine too:

Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by mojo on Jan 4, 2019 17:35:09 GMT 1, The only 'art' I bought this year was the panda canvas for £5 from a charity shop. The BTS poster was a gift, I picked up the Barry McGee stickers from the pavement on Main Street L.A and the Not Not Banksy off the floor in East London (and it now has a Sweetoof on the back) I did buy a Jimmy Cauty & Jamie Reid print although I haven't picked it up yet.

I appreciate the framing is not for everyone but it works for me. The frame was a find from a local antique shop.
I think the image works well beside the Kim Dorland original which was also a purchase from last year. The tree lines tie in with the Riley.

Love this piece buckwurst..
I had a quiet year on the buying front as saving for renovations. Been chasing for a long time the Queensland rioter print by Fintan Magee for my boy and a great forum member sorted me out 👍
