Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by streetartger on Jan 5, 2019 22:35:56 GMT 1, What's the story with the Banksy Che?
It’s a really rare poster from back in the days. I found out they were intended as hand out for Turf War show in 2003, but then Banksy decided not give them out. Most of them were destroyed and some were handed to LAZ employees and given out at Notting Hill carnival 2004. Obviously it does not come with COA but I like it nonetheless

It’s a great poster. I only know of a few people who own one, myself excluded. Well done finding one.

Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by bigtlt on Jan 6, 2019 1:14:46 GMT 1, My favourite purchase this year was from the Prefab77 commission I helped organise.
Was really cool to have some input into the finished artwork.
I also love this piece by Chemical X that I won in a competition.

Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by met on Jan 7, 2019 19:14:43 GMT 1, This Aron Wiesenfeld. It's a piece from his first solo show in 2006. This is great!
Perhaps not a painting I'd wish to look at every day, but I agree it is great.
Congratulations on your acquisition, Meskell.
This is one of the more interesting and effective works I've seen recently. It's beautifully unsettling.
The kickers for me are the boy's expressionless face, his hand reaching into the purse, along with the former contents of that purse (including what looks to be a contraceptive pill dispenser) cast aside in the water with seeming indifference.

I don't own any of his pieces, but I've been following Wiesenfeld's work for a few years. His pieces are beautiful to look at, and there's something super haunting about his subjects faces and the narratives of his paintings. I think the lack of detail/expression on the faces allows the viewer to see what they want to see in the work. His work with lighting is also incredible. No knock on this painting, but I think his work creates too much anxiety for me to have on the wall.

If you don't mind me asking, what are the dimensions of this one? thank you very much. I like mine because it is a bit different from his usual works as denzler usually/predominantly uses a lot of beige or earthy tones in his paintings. I was quite surprised it was still available at the gallery when I enquired about works by denzler. it's pretty small for his standards with 80x70cm.

For sure...I've been more drawn to his monotones, but the tones in this one are spectacular. He's an insane talent and based on how his shows are selling, should continue to rise in prominence IMHO.
Did you pick this up from Opera Gallery? Feel free to PM.

I think it's a huge lovely piece and looks great on the wall.

Had a fair few goes myself. There’s a documentary being made about Chemical X, they turned up with a videographer to drop it off and filmed some stuff. Will be cool to see it once it’s finished.

Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by trendywendy on Jan 11, 2019 5:17:17 GMT 1, So, I actually bought the print a couple of years ago... However, I only bought the Frame last week!
I've been trying out framing myself as the cost is getting out of hand...
I'm quite delighted with the way this one turned out! (apologies for quality of photo! I just put it up...)
The framing cost me £91.50 in total!!

Favourite piece you bought in 2018, by jeeves on Jan 17, 2019 21:06:53 GMT 1, Yeah that and the fact it looks like as**t birthday card you'd buy your auntie. I really am sorry I don't like to diss what others choose to buy as its completely up to them. I went round to a mates for a drink a few weeks back and I was horrified when I walked into the living room and see this framed and up on their wall, generally we agree on most things arty but seriously I had to swerve it all night by staying in the kitchen drinking copious amounts of champagne so they didn't ask me what I thought of it. And I'm going back for dinner tomorrow...oh no what does one do in this situation? Lie? Change the subject? Truth? Cancel? give him a print that has a dumbo and a farm vehicle to replace it.
Connor Brothers are the only people to rival Martin Whatson in the absolutely terrible / bizarrely overrated category, so corny it hurts
