I know lots of owners and fans here of Pejac, but it feels to me like since the loveletter "stunt" his market has been taking a bit of a hit and lots on offer when it seemed untouchable for a while. This is the way of things... look at Harland Miller or Invader recently, but I am curious if people think that loveletter print and its price single-handedly started a small pullback the Pejac market and Pejac fanclub.
I do.
Have other artists had a similar print that has thrown a wrench in the gears ? I know Maya Hayuk did, that's for sure.
And I'm not saying Pejac is dead, done, or dusted, just thinking that one print seemed to have changed the trajectory -

I don't think it hurt the career per say, just the price of his works and the desire to hold which is the same at buying at today's market price. Seems people are not liking this bet as much as they used to -

I have zero idea on his OG market, but to me that's usually a different market all together. Obviously they are correlated, but I have seen things happen in Murakami land where OG seem to soften, but prints get bid. So anyway, yes prints. |

I think it is the case for most artists that prints are overvalued. Certainly on the secondary market.

intersting. Has Harlandโs market taken a hit? His last release (tonight we make history) seems to have gone pretty well. The lesser quality titles seem to be the ones that โentrepreneursโ made a mad dash to round up then they were still available at source 2 years ago and not canโt turn for a mad profit. No surprise there. Still, if talking monetary, the entry point of one of his prints is not really comparable to Pejac or Invader.
Invaders market was proven to be simply manufactured over the last 18 months by a few with vested interest that are now sitting on loads of inventory. Shame as he deserves real recognition imo.
Pejac is super talented imo. Is deserving of recognition, and is doing some incredible and kind of inspiring outdoor work. That said he essentially does not exist outside of this place. Hopefully that will change one day. If you are buying his work with a motivation beyond just liking it you are probably doing it wrong.
