Glastonbury Festival, by High Contrast on Jul 4, 2024 7:01:10 GMT 1, My opinion for what's it's worth is that ever since they put up the fence Glastonbury lost all the vibe. First 3 years I went in the 90s it was fucking bedlam, no one I knew paid to get it in and it went hard, proper last days of Rome debauchery. I hitchhiked down from London each time and met some of the most insane people I think you'll ever likely encounter. I went again in 2003 (I think) after they put up the insane fence, and had to pay like £150, security everywhere, totally different crowd, nowhere nearly as hedonistic and people were starting to take fucking selfies and hold their phones up instead of lighters, beginning of the end and not been since. From the people I speak to it's basically gone down hill since. At £350 a ticket and based on the number of 50 year old+ well off men on this Forum that attended Id say is good indication of where it is today. The fact Banksy still goes there and tries to make lefty political statements to a bunch of millionaires and their trust fund kids kind of highlights what a joke it's become. Bet you'd never see him turn up to a big squat/traveler rave anymore especially if the BBC aren't going to be in attendance. Sounds right up my street in the 90’s

Glastonbury Festival, by Richy Rich on Jul 4, 2024 8:29:09 GMT 1, I would say drugs have a limited if any real prescence there now. It’s a lot bigger and more to see and do. People want enjoy the day. More drinking then anything else. I hadn’t been for 15years, and it’s really different now- but so much better. Stone Circle for example is just tiny, so small. It’s not really a feature anymore just a field you might pass through to the park (and I’ve spent many years going up there, used to be the highlight). This was my 22nd festival and I've been going since the 90's. Unless you spend your time watching Shania Twain and Coldplay at the main stage (each to their own) then I feel like your experience on the festival was probably vastly different to the majority. Drugs have a very real presence at the festival every year. I had some interesting conversations with a lot of the guys organising Silver Hayes, West Holts and Arcadia and I'm always interested in hearing their thoughts about the average punters mindset. Most seemed to think that around 50-70% of the punters of drug taking age were likely to be partaking in some kind of illegal activity during the weekend.

Glastonbury Festival, by PC Baby on Jul 4, 2024 9:52:40 GMT 1, It’s interesting just how much negative things people have to say who A- didn’t go to Glastonbury (probably never have been) B-Didn’t visit Banksy’s stage Terminal 1 there this year B-Didn’t buy Banksy’s screen print for Terminal 1 or his borderline print. Don’t you have other threads to be scroll too that are relevant to you? Literally some of you have made over 50posts on an event you didn’t attend and a print you didn’t buy dragging the whole thing 😂 Quite right: 'A'- didn't go to Glastonbury and have never had the opportunity either - ergo; didn't do 'B' for precisely that reason.
There are absolutely no threads relevant to me on this forum, apart from anything connected to 'Banksy'. That's why I enjoyed reading about all the happenings at this year's festival, especially the 'surfing dinghy' (seems like so many moons ago now).
Excuse my language, but this has turned into a **ite thread and should be re-named accordingly - IMHO !

Literally all you’d hear being shouted day and night was “pills, acid, mushrooms” by dealers.

These cost £15 because they’re worth £15.

Glastonbury Festival, by Terry Fuckwitt on Jul 4, 2024 10:44:21 GMT 1, Depends on what they do with Terminal 1 moving forward I would think. Is back next year. Maybe there’ll be a wider set? These are better than gdp handouts though. They’re an official release, with provenance. Bigger, better quality paper and more complicated printing. More colours, split fountains etc. Banksy and Glastonbury, and his first stage there is an awesome theme actually. He goes back decades there and finally has his own stage. Thats what I like about them. This was what you said in your very first post here... 'They’re £15 with a tube on not great paper and some aren’t printed very well'
Then in this post you said... 'Bigger, better quality paper and more complicated printing. More colours, split fountains etc'
Which one is it?

Glastonbury Festival, by Greg on Jul 4, 2024 11:13:47 GMT 1, I ordered a Terminal 1 poster from an eBay seller over the weekend, for just below £100. Was surprised to see it being shipped today. Will have to see what arrives 🤔🤞🏻 Damn.... Looks like a Royal Mail ref was created but the item has not been sent/handed over to Royal Mail.
That's a pretty shitty thing to do, I'd rather they just backed out and relisted the poster for the sake of £100.
I am also pretty certain this seller is on this Forum but I'll just leave that here.
I'm going back under my rock... Peace out ✌🏻

Assuming you're just unaware, rather than just plain rude, English isn't Lroy's first language.

Glastonbury Festival, by its all about me on Jul 4, 2024 12:14:58 GMT 1, Ok, let's take a rest from all the abuse and insults just for a moment and look at the actual art.
Reasons why the posters are almost definitely NOT by Banksy...
1. They are a South American company promoting South American artists.
2. They are printed in garish day-glo colours. Does B ever do this?
3. There are different colourways of the same image. Does B ever do this?
4. Banksy's work is very political and often features humour. I'm not sure I see either of these things in these posters.
5. Banksy make his message very obvious, sometimes taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Is there a message to these posters? If so it is very subtle. Banksy does not do 'subtle'.
6. One of the images is a copy of a photograph. Does B ever produce artworks from making a print out of a photograph?
7. If these prints are by Banksy then why did he only do 2 of the 4 available? Surely he would do all 4 ... or none at all.
8. The fact that Banksy may have curated Terminal 1 does not mean he had anything to do with the posters (see 7 above).
9. The fact that there was a Banksy inflatable at the festival does not mean he also produced some posters as well.
10. Banksy always acknowledges when he produces something, even postcards and t-shirts. If these posters really are by him why hasn't he acknowledged as such?
Have I missed anything?

Spot on. If you are being suckered into paying silly money for these, then let it be a lesson learned. Absolutely not by Banksy
Ok, let's take a rest from all the abuse and insults just for a moment and look at the actual art. Reasons why the posters are almost definitely NOT by Banksy... 1. Glastonbury Festival, by Daniel Silk on Jul 4, 2024 12:33:43 GMT 1, What does the number of people watching tell you? Flippers testing the waters, waiting to see if anyone is crazy enough to pay that price.

Glastonbury Festival, by JW on Jul 4, 2024 12:37:38 GMT 1, You missed most of the points that confirm it to be Banksy. this is why people miss out and get bitter. They are 100% by Banksy. No doubt by those who know. When's the next Tate Ward auction?
Assume you'll be clogging up the board until then?
