Thieves stole the golden egg off a Salvador Dalí sculpture v, by irl1 on Sept 23, 2019 18:55:01 GMT 1, BBC 2 Mon, 21:00
The $50m Art Swindle
Documentary telling the remarkable story of a charlatan art dealer who swindled more than $50million from the art establishment before going on the run. Michel Cohen, a popular and charming New York art dealer originally from France, was a high-school drop-out from a poor background who went on to become a rich and successful art dealer. Throughout the 1990s, he sold paintings by artists such as Picasso, Monet and Chagall to America's wealthiest elite. Cohen was living the high life until he began trading recklessly in the stock market and ran up considerable debts. In an attempt to recoup his losses, he swindled private collectors, auction houses and other art dealers out of more than $50million. When his crimes were discovered, he fled the US with his wife and two children and went on the run. In 2003, he was found by Interpol in Brazil and was imprisoned in Rio de Janeiro, but seven months later while awaiting extradition to the US, he escaped from prison and vanished off the face of the earth. Sixteen years later, film-maker Vanessa Engle tracks him down and persuades him to tell his extraordinary story

Thieves stole the golden egg off a Salvador Dalí sculpture v, by stavi on Sept 23, 2019 19:05:12 GMT 1, Personally, i would've taken one of the ants. Anyways seems like it should be easy enough to make a new egg. Size wise, it was a small part of the statue.
Also that documentary seems interesting.

The doc maker was on the radio today it sounds very good.
Sotheby's gave him a loan of $10 million as he had art in their auction.
They gave the art back to him to sell privately but that was the last time they saw him

I don't know much about this sort of stuff but a quick Google of how to watch iplayer (the BBC watch again viewing platform) abroad and various vpn options come up. I haven't used them myself.

Sothebys believing that Cohen would pay back the money.
