Artist with the most Art up for Resale?, by tab1 on Jul 29, 2019 1:54:08 GMT 1, Few years back people used to stall at canvas originals at £1000 + for fairly new artists 3 year plus on the scene but now the norm to spend near that amount on prints , although most deny , the profit margins on the secondary market drives most to buy , initial outlay back and the chance of a profit. Artists that churn out repetive styles and increase edition sizes will eventually lose market interest.
stik and banksy seem to have the highest return on initial outlay if purchased at source when priced at £100, why ? Because the market is not over saturated with prints but both still supply canvases to the market discreetly.

Artist with the most Art up for Resale?, by cest on Jul 29, 2019 1:57:43 GMT 1, Could that be why Banksy isn’t releasing anything, maybe he is nervous of what might happen, could he be watching closely artists like Kaws, Shepard Fairey and Mr Brainwash to see if there style of continuous releases eventually goes bust! He, she, it, is smart as fuck. I think the controlling of the amount of prints released and the authentication process is what is keeping the values high.
Why would he, she , it want the costs high? I think it is kind of bullsh;t He is suppose to be an anarchist and against "the man" so he sticks it to print collectors by keeping his art unattainable

Yeah, see that’s an interesting thing to say coz it sort of suggests that’s what Banksy’s motives are, to keep the print values high. But the question then is why would he care? Why would he worry about keeping those values high in the future? I don’t know the answer 😆 it’s confusing. Would any artist only keep values high if he planned to release more in the future?

You're a lovely, kind, beautiful soul but you don't know fuck all about the art markets based on what your eyes tell you.

We’ll see. I respect that. Had I invested all my money in Art I wouldn’t have the life that I have today.

Fundamentally depends upon your motivation for buying art.

Buying art that you don’t like is a very dangerous game to play, I might even say crazy! Even if your only buying for investment, who’s to say the demand is only from people like yourself, buying art they don’t like, so it all ends up worthless in the end.

And I agree on the art market bit.

Keeping the print market low with releases and with the auctions and publicity stunts they do has created a demand , which has lead to use as investments pushing prices up to 60k gbp for prints , this benefits as they can release vip prints straight to the market for 20k gbp + and creates a demand for canvases which start at even higher pricing tiers .what other artists creates so many pr stunts constantly and are able to release new prints to the market at 20-40k gbp ? Would they sell so many prints without they exposure / publicity stunts ?

I keep hearing about these Banksy ‘VIP’ prints or editions, but I haven’t seen any recent ones - do they happen often/have there been any recently? or is it a case where nothing is really revealed by PC/buyers.

Artist with the most Art up for Resale?, by 19818914 on Jul 29, 2019 17:24:20 GMT 1, Michael Reeder seems to have a bunch of prints for sale on ebay. Not nearly as much as Shep and brainwash but I was really surprised.
