Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by teabaggins on Dec 2, 2019 18:33:05 GMT 1, Not sure anyone is actually โconfirmedโ as having purchased one online yet are they? Has anyone gotten the second email after โprocessing and verificationโ? I doubt there will be any kind of verification. I've got a very similar mail for the puzzles. As did I for all my separate orders.
Followed in every case by a verification email within a few days...

I never consider any print value at ยฃ10 but i would rather pay the extra for the Tension you rather pay "the extra" ? Mate.... it's 3.3 times the amount , 3k or 10k ,what are you talking about ? These are an edition of 750 cost $4,225 USD ($6,200 AUD) + shipping/tax and are very small
The Tension prints are an edition of 100, have lots of colour and are 88.9 x 58.4 cm in size
People paid $3,500 for a tiny Mocad print (on the blind) and i have seen them sell in auctions for $7,000 + fees

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by Hairbland on Dec 2, 2019 20:41:55 GMT 1, Why price to avoid flipping straightaway, unlike the other work he and other artists release to allow for secondary? No meat here, still available to the whole globe and still unsold. At this price point and edition size, we've reached tipping point in saturation. I don't see long term stability. Absurd at best.

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by irl1 on Dec 2, 2019 20:52:18 GMT 1, Last week they told me they are still reviewing the applications. Not sure if true but let's see Maybe they had some people pull out, or maybe they didn't pay. They started taking payments weeks ago. $75,000 AUD for the set was good value. Anyone on here get lucky?

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by Hairbland on Dec 2, 2019 20:52:33 GMT 1, I have been on this forum for 9 years as of 2 days ago, and the KAWS comments here are pretty much the same every time he releases something for at least 5 years now. Most comments seem to be from people talking out their a$$ with little sense of history or art knowledge. Amusing 5 years ago, boring now.

No meat here, still available to the whole globe and still unsold. At this price point and edition size, we've reached tipping point in saturation. I don't see long term stability. Why would they want to add meat for the flippers? I know for a fact that Brian hates that people flip his art for a profit. Even his original pieces are only sold to people that he believes won't be flipping them.
This piece is priced at around the current "flipper" price so that they can have a higher chance of getting into the true collectors hands. The very sad side effect is that some true fans without deep stacks of $$$ can't collect his work. It's a trade off (also, a large portion of the profit goes to the NGV, which is a not for profit).
The impression that he only hangs with the rich and famous and favours them with his work is absolutely true, but mostly because of some bad experiences with too many people selling his work at a huge profit (remember, he doesn't make a cent from the resale value). In some cases, he's actually the buyer in some auctions so he can bring the work back into his folio.
I've personally owned about 5 original paintings from kaws. I was forced to sell all but 1 due to a messy divorce and near bankruptcy. 2 of them went back to KAWS, and the other 2 were sold to collectors. One of those ended up back in Brian's hands recently (the original Tokion bus stop painting).
So what I'm trying to say from this long rant is that the print was priced perfectly to avoid flippers jumping straight into it. Sure, it'll go up in value, but it'll take months, or even a year or so to see a big increase.
Also note that KAWS prices still have a lot of upside. Despite the $14m sale.. most pieces go for around ~$1m, which is still far below a few other living artists.

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by Graham H on Dec 2, 2019 22:05:45 GMT 1, The problem being such rapid rises of several street art / urban artists have given paid to the 5 years plus holding of pieces being the norm to be a sensible investment..
In this day and age it appears to be all about instant double or more..within a very short space of time..
Maybe this is for prints and toys etc, smaller values of profit but originals should realistically be a long term thing.. hang and enjoy for years, then if lucky, buy boat

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by Deleted on Dec 2, 2019 22:14:06 GMT 1, so long as you are here Hairbland to put people in their place for how little they know about Kaws and his origins it never gets boring for me I don't think he's putting people in their place for not knowing much about Kaws, but for aggressively pretending they do. Not knowing much about an artist is fine, but if you then try to tell people what that artist is all about you look a bit silly.
(I don't know a whole lot of detail about Kaws' history, but I know he's more than just Mr Squiggly X Eyes. If only there were a book available to teach me more)

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by Mr Janny on Dec 2, 2019 22:26:08 GMT 1, Just pulled the trigger on this. It will be my first kaws print. I made the move because i dont know when is the next time I will be able to buy a kaws print on release without having to deal with flippers. This will look beautiful on my wall. You guys are planning to frame this behind matting or floating? Im still debating which one to go with.

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by krazy on Dec 2, 2019 22:41:03 GMT 1, Anyone got photos / info on the set? Yep krazy might post some pictures (i had a pdf from Maddox if i find it ill post) www.art collectorz/artworks/artwork-detail?artwork_id=21211&edition_id=27317 Will do when I have them in hand. They were due for delivery end of Nov, but there's been a delay. We're looking at mid Dec now.
The majority of prints went to friends and family and long time gallery supporters. The NGV received the expressions of interest, did a shortlist, then passed to Brian's people to approve. They'll definitely be hard to come by on the secondary market.
Here's a photo of the prints and the originals..

Curious how with all vetting and dislike for flippers Maddox were able to have it available

The NGV received the expressions of interest, did a shortlist, then passed to Brian's people to approve. They'll definitely be hard to come by on the secondary market. Curious how with all vetting and dislike for flippers Maddox were able to have it available

Kaws NGV - COMPANIONSHIP IN THE AGE OF LONELINESS, by Deleted on Dec 2, 2019 23:02:00 GMT 1, Why price to avoid flipping straightaway, unlike the other work he and other artists release to allow for secondary? Finally some light amongst a sea of bitterness. I hope the one original you have left is the best of the bunch.
