Not knowing much about an artist is fine, but if you then try to tell people what that artist is all about you look a bit silly. (I don't know a whole lot of detail about Kaws' history, but I know he's more than just Mr Squiggly X Eyes. If only there were a book available to teach me more)
I'm not trying to put anyone in their place, Iโve enjoyed this thread but when the uneducated (this is art, education good) are talking about KAWS (or similar) jumping the shark or saturating his market or this will kill his career I get annoyed. Learn and ask questions, or share oneโs knowledge, much more fun. The book that came out in maybe 2010 from Aldrich show, his first museum show, was a good book.

Not here that much anymore, the elimination of the โdropโ thread, the commoditization of the site such as beginner threads like whose on eBay, Instagram or other and more has made the site far less necessary for me. Kinda like the gentrification of a hip arty neighborhood into real estate for bankers.

They can blame Tomasz, who works at the gallery. He set the inventory to 10k and nobody noticed. When they come to work on Tuesday it was heavily oversold...
After a little investigation we find out that Tomasz, instead of focusing on work, was constantly checking if the first edition of Bansky Captured sold out, so he can flip it on eBay for ยฃ475. Tomasz, you make us all, Polish people, look bad...

They cleared out the gallery before they left; Picasso's 'Weeping Woman' gonna clean up on the 'bay.
