I would advise anyone sitting on banksy prints to get their COA's in order ASAP. Who knows if pest control will be around forever and what other numbering/authenticity issues could rear their head from the past.

I cant really see another way pc could have handled this tbh The whole point of a PP/AP is surely for experimentation, and tuning to get the final run accepted and agreed by the artist, hence the different colourways,slight style change etc. Printers will always produce an extra percentage for errors as more cost effective to print more than not enough, these are normally signed when the run is being signed. I too love the Banksy APs, especially the colourways we don't often see; however, Sticking AP on a print years after they realise they cocked up is not an AP IMO. Then again what do I know.

Reading past / old threads makes sense with older prints , they were £40/£150 then selling for £200-£600 near after
Easy money for untrustworthy staff at the time to make easy money by releasing old stock / extras they keep for damage / returns etc and with no pest control or coas could imagine would be hassle free at the time

It's not rocket science writing numbers on prints and counting them.
That is if they printed and numbered the whole edition in one go?
Maybe in the early days they just printed a few and numbered thoses as they were not sure if all would sell?

The editions were well over printed, there were loads of drugs flying around and a fair share of booze, people might not have been getting paid, POW were flat broke and flogging prints on ebay to stay alive, want any more reasons? |
