Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by rosac on Oct 27, 2021 22:05:56 GMT 1, Well thatโs not exactly true is it What do you suggest then?
There was nothing not nice about the gentlemanโs comment. I think itโs unfair for people to post negative empty comments on someone they donโt know on an online forum. Posting pictures etc. itโs just wrong.
And I know plenty of people that remain nice when they donโt get what they want.

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by Backpack Punk on Oct 28, 2021 1:19:50 GMT 1, For those that don't know Toykio is an extremely nice person who has been collecting for quite a long time. I have had a couple of dealings with him over the years and he has been extremely easy to deal with. He has a genuine love for street art and the artists and the means to collect in a way many people want to. He is one of the last people around here that should be getting negative vibes. Everyone is nice until they don't get what they want. I don't think he wasn't being mean or nice, I think he was just pointing out something many people have pointed out on drops over the last few years, bots tend to dominate timed drops and it makes it hard for collectors that don't have/use them.
I think the way he was portrayed in this room was extremely unfair by calling him a hoarder or making fun of the fact that he didn't get the drop and commented on an IG post. He has supported many of these artists before some of them blew up, it's not like he is jumping on the trend of trying to flip the work.

Ok boomer, stop defending him.
The simple point is that itโs ironic that he of all people would be complaining on Instagram. Especially as a guy who has access to most pre-orders. Heโs crying about it because he wasnโt chosen, tough shit.
And yeah man, he does flip. People just look the other way or he uses other accounts. Lol

Got some fella who kept their Pejac Yin Yang in a box for the last however many years and then resold it this week for a profit. Mooncub is correct, this would not be a flip, more an investment. Flipping, according to the dictionary, is a quick turnaround sale on a newly acquired item, usually within weeks of purchase if not actually a few days. Hanging on to something for a few years then selling it is not a flip in anyoneโs eyes, maybe someone on an imaginary forum might think so, but not in real life. In real life it is called an investment.
For example, I bought my building in downtown Brooklyn in 1999, and it is now up for sale, at 15x what I paid. This is not a flip.

The term reseller applies. The building was still occupied and not kept flatfiled under your bed. The Yin Yang print was never framed and displayed (the artist wished for all these to be framed and hung - confirmed after chatting with the artist many years ago), and sat in storage with the sole intention of being resold for a profit. Flip, it may not be, but bought to resell for a profit, it surely is!

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by Horatio Nelson on Oct 30, 2021 1:18:08 GMT 1, Interesting discussion here.
I generally categorise flippers as those who get a release on primary sale and have listed it on eBay/forum within weeks or a couple of months and have kept the artwork in original packaging. Or perhaps selling at a mainstream auction house within a year.
But once someone pays the money to frame it and put it up in their home/office, itโs more of a personal effect than a trading asset, in my eyes.
In fact, itโs probably best to follow HMRC and categorise flippers as those who are conducting a trading activity. This will turn on factors such as the duration of ownership before selling, frequency and number of similar transactions, modifications to the asset; and the reason for the original acquisition (and, potentially, subsequent changes of intention). The individualโs intention at the time of purchase is a pretty important factor. In expecting that they may or will sell sometime soon is not indicative of trading - there has to be something more; a real intention to dispose of the item for monetary gain.

Dear Collectionlover! i dont really care about what you think but spreading all these alternative facts, you must have family ties to the Humpty Trumpty fella! 1st- im Turkish not German 2nd- my Burger Joint is way older than Blacktap 3rd- i dont flip but i do feed flippers regularly. 4th- why all this hate and jealousy? i guess that you have another account on here as you registered a while back just to go rant on Avantarte after their Guzu release where you also picked out a shot of 3 Haroshis which belonged to me and a friend. Next time do a proper research before you spread false information about people. And why the hell do you have to post this ugly cropped picture of mine? You must have gone thru all of my IG posts and seen a big chunk of my collection. A real collection โloverโ would have a bit of respect for fellow collectors / hordersโฆ Especially as a foreigner living in Germany, working my ass off to build a collection for 30 years and doing museum shows to share the passion, your behavior on here is just humiliating. Shame on you! But im not resentful. Just apologize and i invite you for a Burger and a personal tour to the collection, if you want to come over for my next museum show in Dusseldorf november next year. Have a lovely weekendโ๏ธ

Yoshitomo Nara ๐ฏ๐ต New Print Release โข Contemporary Art , by Hairbland on Oct 30, 2021 11:32:49 GMT 1, again semanticsโฆ. if u buy anything, then sell at a later time 4 profit, itโs a flipโฆ. โquicklyโ is subjectiveโฆ. if u sell a work from a gallery in under 4yrs some would call it a flipโฆ. u can flip houses, if u sell them in 6months or 6yrs, youโve bought them sold at a profit, u flipped itโฆ. yโall forgetting the term โquicklyโ or โfastโ is highly subjectiveโฆ. buying then selling after any expanse of time isnโt, itโs objective, youโve bought, then sold at a profitโฆ. thatโs a flip. u can argue the semantics all u want, just admit a well know gallery would consider 2-3 years a โquick flipโ, with a negative connotation of the termโฆ. no private collector iโve ever spoken with would under the same time frameโฆ. again, proving time is very subjective, but selling 4 profit is not. as far as somebody here google searched the word 2 prove their point? good luck with thatโฆ. now jog back onto google n type, โcan a man get pregnantโโฆ. tell me how many โyesโ links u got. Nope, you're wrong, but feel free to favour your bastardised version of the term over the Oxford English dictionary definition if you wish. Since most galleries that frown on flipping tend to go with a 2 year window it would seem selling your art within 2 years a flip, selling it after an investment. I fully understand there are some that just donโt get this. One of the evergreens of the forum.

Well said Toykio. There needs to be a lot less hate and a lot more respect on here. Easy to hide behind a user name and not do the research tooโฆ.
Heโs a white German guy who owns a sub par burger chain that is clearly a ripoff of BlackTap. His user name is misleading. Lol Dear Collectionlover! i dont really care about what you think but spreading all these alternative facts, you must have family ties to the Humpty Trumpty fella! How would you hear this? Private sales have been robust. There's been a lot of buying and selling by members on this platform and outside UAA. Counted about 11 so far.
