Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by eschiff on May 8, 2020 20:19:00 GMT 1, Seems like a risky gamble. And what happens if the Gallery goes out of business? The print without the Pest Control COA would be a problem.
It may be. I guess at the end of the day I'd rather have the print without the COA then the COA without the print!

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by whatisart on May 9, 2020 0:08:27 GMT 1, question: if you were to be the lucky winner of the print, went and got it framed and the framer cut out the GDP instructions (the note on the box) off the box and hung it on the BACK of the frame, would you be annoyed or grateful?

i'd be annoyed, what other liberties did he take without checking in with you.

It’s disposable packaging to everyone else except banksy collectors , your lucky it was not discarded , need to be clear with all your requests In the future you may have people that would pay extra for packaging? Annoyed with yourself but can not really raise a complaint

whoah. for any seasoned craftsman/woman who handles collectibles , even the original tape on the packaging is worth keeping and leaving on said packaging. Collecting 101.

Many framers are generations old and have apprentices or younger persons that are not in the mindset of old seasoned framers or collectors hence what happened ,

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by whatisart on May 9, 2020 0:53:47 GMT 1, guys, this was from (what my research led me to believe) a VERY reputable NYC framer.
i made it pretty clear i wanted to keep the original packaging and never made mention of wanting anything removed from it and placed on the back of the frame. i have an email back and forth from them confirming i wanted them to keep the original packaging for me and they agreed to hold onto it. again, no mention from either my end or theirs of them tampering with the box at all.
this is my first Banksy piece, and my first piece of art in general, so i know not what to be frustrated with and what to let go.
that said, this set me back a pretty penny ($~1,800) so i'd expect flawless service.

Just good intentions from the framer as he clearly viewed as a box and assumed you only wanted to keep the instructions hence he put in on the back of the frame

as far as i know they've used japanese hinges and reversible methyl cellulose or rice starch paste.
again i'm a total noob so i dk much. i just wanted to make sure it was handled by a professional.

at least you still have the sticker and hopefully they kept the rest of the packaging

I always ask for quotes on size of the prints only , although professional some framers increase prices when naming The artists Print to be framed 😉

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by acaipride on May 9, 2020 2:53:01 GMT 1, 1k was def a name on the print premium.
Regarding the ocd collector comment, not at all..if you buy a watch aftermarket, if you buy a bbear aftermarket, if you buy any vinyl aftermarket the same rule applies, OG packaging, just like a banksy labeled tube, would be a premium. Not saying that the print itself lost value, none at all, but from an aftermarket point of view OG packaging drives a premium, especially a tube or packaging from a high end collectible, suck as any luxury watch or in this case art. I back tracked the replies you received on ny framers, personally i wouldn't have gone to any of them, most of the rec.s you see on here a very close friends of said top framers

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by glap86 on May 9, 2020 14:12:54 GMT 1, I actually think there are some pretty interesting legal questions that would come with buying a pre-COA print. Has Banksy/PC actually confirmed a CoA would be issued for Banksquiat? We might assume that to be the case but from looking at the GDP website and t&c, I see no promises.
With no promises as to issuing a CoA, then they’d be well within their rights to deny sending a CoA to a flipper (“we only promised a print”) where if it was sold as coming with a CoA (in two years time), they may not be.
The t&c says if you buy an item that will be accorded a CoA you may be required to enter into a separate sales contract. Has that happened with the Banksquiat purchases?

Banksy Basquiat Print, Gross Domestic Product™, by tab1 on May 9, 2020 14:47:20 GMT 1, Coa only used for proof to confirm genuine As the print is new has so much to confirm It is genuine
On this type of release more of a marketing ploy
The print can be checked Against others Provenance in the form of Receipts Gdp emails Courier receipts Packaging printed on board so difficult to replicate and if were ,differences would be noticeable For example you could have a genuine laz banksy Coa ten pound letter and a Fake note . Just because you have a Coa you still need to check the print Speculation on the market but going by the past sales , prints have risen year on year for the last 15 years and buyers now on the secondary market are buying in cheap , the image is great , what it represents ,family friendly , nod to a defining artist and the year it was released / delivered will be stamped in history , a lot going for the collectors
