Banksy RAT Print, Gross Domestic Product , by vvk on Oct 25, 2019 21:54:10 GMT 1, the "debossing" is generally from the weight of the ink , which would show up more if printed on thin paper, this paper is like a thin news print unbleached, screenprint inks i lay on top on paper where a letterpress print is somewhat stamped.
Alot of care was put into these "free giveaway" prints, i mean, all images look the same no smudges no marks , no missing splatter ( which those small splatters are easy to clog up a screen and not print) to how each one is printed in the exact same place.
Its not like they said, hey we just printed 300 clocks, lets go ahead and turn it to 11 and print 1k more news print pcs fo the kids.
they were very deliberate and exact in the execution.
1 GDP release is free
2nd GDP release is for the "non wealthy" @ very reasonable prices
3 rd and forth . who knows but im guessing 3rd will be 3-5 x the current pricing maybe even bidding and 4th will be un released pricing going directly to collectors.

Yes agreed, paper has shine. Somebody described it as chip paper, as in from fish&chip shop. Seems pretty accurate, bit like thin baking paper

Getting home and giving the three images a proper study they are quite stunning in their crispness of image and saturation of colour. Every micro dot of ink is crystal clear and the impact of the flower thrower is as strong as any Banksy image, maybe helped by its size. Itโs big. If you get the chance, sooner than later, grab one. I donโt think these could be convincingly forged easily but feel for fans who donโt have a good reference point.
Absolutely love the circular frame clock ideas posted by members earlier, if only the paper extended upwards enough!

I canโt imagine itโd be reversible either as tape and paste tend to be activated by moisture and due to paper itโd surely mess it up, no?

That could always be overcome by placing another piece of paper the same colour against it. The line would hardly show.
To do it properly you'll need to cut your print down to fit in the clock. Otherwise you won't have the proper effect of the clock looking like a 'hamster wheel' that the rat is running on. On GDP clocks even the small time lines appear as the ridges of a hamster wheel. Such incredible attention to detail and so well conceptualised.

Am I the only one who see this rat clock as looking like it's stuck in a hamster wheel .. providing an existential metaphor of 'us' stuck in repetitive (9 -5) lives .. hmm seems that way.
So it's meant to just be a scrawny pretty rat running along devoid of meaning. I must be looking too much into things. (btw pls no one tell me you can see what you want to see in it)

a screenprint lands somewhere in between a painting and an (old style) mechanised process. It requires a great deal of craftsmanship and intervention if not creation by the artist (for transparency I am a screen printer).
Edit: plus the final result is far better in many peoples' eyes.

The definition of a poster is a large printed picture used for decoration so could encompass a screenprint. Personally I see posters as non limited edition/Mass produced but each to their own.

Obviously not fool proof, still consider the properties of the print itself but at least it places the seller at the site when they were being handed out - for me at least it adds an extra layer of credibility.
