I live in Los Angeles and the email was sent at 2am my time- so when I woke up and clicked the link it said sold out/expired and I was no longer able to purchase one.

It’s quite surprising how much difference there is the first batch is bigger and has a greater amount of stitches and the tightness of the lettering is noticeable. Also the colours are different well mines brighter which I prefer. Thought I’d share for people who like seeing the subtle differences

They are the same, just depends on who did the stitching. I sold one of my first editions and bought a second edition I thought looked better. There is no difference, outside of tag being sewn completely on the first batch. Mine are also both the same size. |

However, my mat from the 1st release is distinguished. Unlike the one from a later release, I'm confident I'd recognise it in a line up of any number of mats. I'm far more attached to it and for the time being it's the one I've chosen to display.

Instead of being an artwork it seems to have become a money making exercise and all the changes have been done to speed up the process and make more money. Not sewing on the tags less stitches and time taken to sew the letters on using newer life jackets rather than sorting through for the faded weathered ones making them smaller so packing them into the boxes is easier all these little changes add up and when seen side by side the newer version doesn’t have the same impact
