Remember, this first round is stated to be a starter round at lower prices on items. Even tho that's a half joke regarding the rich.. is it really a joke? I could see some items not restocking, and mugs, tees, etc going up in price. Or I could even see the unlimited items going to everyone that applied, being a 1x offering, and therefore basically being a pre order so there's near $0 out of pocket initially on them
It's just odd all around.. and adds to the fun
F the resell, I gladly would pay $600 knowing some of that went to charity to have one.. people pay more for a kaws open edition, hell people pay 10x this for a monkey parliment poster lol.. in "Banksy" terms this is about the cost of a box set, but with charity involved, and a piece I'd much much rather own.. Yet I love the link here with doormat and those fleeing their country of origin. How great it is them who get to see this message โwelcomeโ to us, is that are happy to spend ยฃ500 on that mat which would otherwise retail at ยฃ10. Yet with Banksy endorsing it, the game changes. And here we have a wonder thing. For the numbers of people fleeing wonโt stop because of the Donald Trumps of this world or Brexit policies, or even the rise in nationalism. You just canโt stop people wanting to escape places that are war torn, prone to national disasters or exploited by richer countries for their poor GDP.
I hope these doormats are truly from an unlimited edition and get bought up by whole streets and blocks of houses, filling every home with that simply message, โyes, I am little more than a doormat but please welcome meโ. The money will go some way to improving the lives of people that are routinely vilified as people who will take what we perceive is โoursโ. The worse being our opportunities, resources and ultimately happiness. Like we have the monopoly on these things. Grow up.
And as for the guy that wants to buy this from the secondary market, er mug, couldnโt you just reach out to the charity and wave your cheque book instead of lining the pocket of a contributor to misery and human suffering.

The word is these will continue being made as long as there are life jackets on the beaches of Lesvos to make them (i hope not). They can only be made in batches obviously as labour is limited. Each purchase is a massive amount of money and these could help raise millions for these poor people. |
