Banksy Welcome Mat, by sgolby on Oct 17, 2019 16:46:05 GMT 1, I did this one, but the charity one is good if enough people do it.ย Well done to anyone that reported these, looks like they have all been removed๐
Reported each and every one. Like i said unless every penny from the sale goes to love welcomes, they have no business selling these on.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Lroy on Oct 17, 2019 16:46:09 GMT 1, Look, here I don't understand ! GDP said that they will answer if it's good, days after the sale, it means that he is selling this one without receiving it ? ( or the order confirmation ) ... sometimes its hard...
The mats are sold on a different site (the first lot of 500 are sold out) because they're made by a charity, not by GDP. They're a collaboration between Banksy and Love Welcomes. You didn't have to enter the lottery for them, you could just buy them. So this seller has a confirmed order (which may well get cancelled now, hopefully). Thank you very much for your answer sir. So they have no COa I guess.

Yep, there are no COAs for the mats

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Hairbland on Oct 17, 2019 16:57:39 GMT 1, It would seem those who went for this think it the best, and are a bit negative towards the other items. And those that went for other items arenโt all that positive about this item. Typical forum. it may be... and if it is what's the matter? Just kinda lame, imho.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Rouen Cathedral on Oct 17, 2019 16:58:50 GMT 1, Clearly my comment is in regards to all those saying these are steals, and no pass at this price, and talking about them selling for 3k already on eBay. Yes if you buy it and enjoy it and have it for thirty years then surely worth it. Is that going to be you? I had the chance to buy in the first round and passed. Donโt act like you know my motivation. Sealioning again, eh? All the classic traits, including an over abundance of unnecessary words in your sentences. You have posted negative asinine comments in virtually every Banksy thread. New members deserve to know you for the ๐คก you are.
So are you sealioning a sealioning post? Bravo ๐

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Stonetown on Oct 17, 2019 17:11:44 GMT 1, Great spirited discussion about the mats. My 2 cents is that these cant be unlimited for few simple reasons:
-It will take a long time and a lot of effort to make these. Compared to the WOH Box Sets which can be mass produced, these look like they are very much in the 'craft' category, are cumbersome to create and so wont be mass produced. And they certainly wont outsource them to a factory. That would hurt the message. -An earlier forum poster is correct... Banksy could just release a print to benefit the charity and not have them go through all this effort. Seems somewhat easier to do that and would likely make as much or more money for the cause faster. Less cool...but easier on the people producing the mats by hand for sure.
-If you make these mats truly unlimited, then you wouldn't get the same asking price for them. Supply and demand rules apply. If there are a ton of them available, they would likely have to lower their price on them. Meaning that they would have to produce that many more (by hand) to make up the same charitable contribution. Much better to limit the quantity of the release and release something else (that they create) at a later time.
For these reasons, I would bet that the mats end up being in the high quantities but not unlimited. 1000k ish max. I also wouldn't be surprised if they ended up only doing 500 of them and then released something else that is easier to produce. That then might explain them originally being listed as 'From and Edition'.

Currently 9 active listings, including this one from trainerhype, aka a long-term forum member which comes as no surprise at all given his recent comments here claiming limited production...
Name them and letโs see their response to said accusation ๐ No point, even in the face of positive proof they'll do what they've done for 13 years and deny it.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Deleted on Oct 17, 2019 17:32:58 GMT 1, No no no no no - sorry but this kind of behaviour should not be tolerated. Those mats are to raise funds for the refugees, not for a dog shelter. s**tty thing to do and a bit of coat-tailing, and anyone who has the money to bid on this should be donating it to the charity and the cause that this piece was destined for.
irrespective also to the cause or purpose, a flip is a flip. Email winging its way to Love Welcome informing them that you are pre-selling. It's also part of the terms and conditions of sale from GDP.

Also, I may be mistaken but i donโt think that on Ebay you can sell an order confirmation or a shipping confirmation, only something in your possession.

Its interesting reading to what you say and what others have said
Do we think these mats are made from life jackets using a needle and thread?
Has anyone attempted to put a needle through thick rubber? Do you think it would be possible for someone to do it Once/twice, all day?
Would you like it that someone has done this for you?
I would have thought the mat is supplied pre formed with holes already drilled into it, and they thread the material (whatever it is) through the holes, and then glue or staple the belt catches at the end. Hopefully and I am sure it will be as simple and non physical as possible.
Like all unlimited things they are unlimited until they stop being produced. No one knows when this will be

I think helping anybody/anything in need is more important, the Doormat could've been wrapped in acid free tissue for a decade but its helping raise funds for a very worthy cause, 2 people who give everything to help animals, mostly abuse cases and can't get government funding because they would have to be open to public and that's not possible because of bite risk. I'm sure Banksy wouldn't have a problem.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by nobokov on Oct 17, 2019 17:41:41 GMT 1, I'd speculate that Banksy chose mats over prints, because it's a bit comical to think that someone would actually frame or hang a brown mat on a wall or even pay thousands for a mat. The joke is on the person who actually does use it for a purpose other than entering your home on and perhaps reminding us about the plight of the less fortunate (and even that itself might be a sort of a joke and comment on what art is). But since the job of the mat is 'to sit on the wall and get more expensive', no one except the most wealthy will be using it for its intended purpose. It's likely just going to be a stored in our closets sitting there while Banksy laughs and we share that laugh at our own obsessive hoarding behavior and the shit that we buy.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by dogstar on Oct 17, 2019 17:42:04 GMT 1, Worthy cause and all that, but I can't understand why anyone who missed out of the first round of 500 mats doesn't just register for one of the next batches? Same goes for anyone buying one from the bay. You honestly think these will be unlimited and made in the thousands? Really? They only have 9 women making them! Yes, I honestly think that. That's the reason I wrote it. Funny that.
I get your point, but you're assuming the women are making the entire mat, when in fact those nine women may only be embroidering them.
Edit: Additionally, unless I'm mistaken, the only mention of 'nine women' is from the 'about us' page on Love Welcomes website, which was written in 2018. Things may well have changed since then, in fact I very much hope they have in that more refugees have been employed. I've not seen any statement other than on this forum that states nine women are making the Banksy rugs, though again I'm happy to be corrected.

GDP made their views and terms quite clear from the offset, and what Castle has done is, denied a legitimate fan from contributing to a worthier cause and of course owning something in to the meantime. He owns a gallery, put something else up for auction, but to me this stinks of glorification and another desperate act in riding Banksy's coat tail (Lonelyfarmer, Gonefellow and that Banksy Room).
Email sent, hope they cancel his orders

Banksy Welcome Mat, by Deleted on Oct 17, 2019 17:48:41 GMT 1, I think helping anybody/anything in need is more important, the Doormat could've been wrapped in acid free tissue for a decade but its helping raise funds for a very worthy cause, 2 people who give everything to help animals, mostly abuse cases and can't get government funding because they would have to be open to public and that's not possible because of bite risk. I'm sure Banksy wouldn't have a problem. Sorry by the ends does not justify the means.ย Sugarcoating it because it is going to a dog's charity, so what?ย GDP made their views and terms quite clear from the offset, and what Castle has done is, denied a legitimate fan from contributing to a worthier cause and of course owning something in to the meantime.ย He owns a gallery, put something else up for auction, but to me this stinks of glorification and another desperate act in riding Banksy's coat tail (Lonelyfarmer, Gonefellow and that Banksy Room). Email sent, hope they cancel his orders
Man, I'll leave you to it, little do you know

So effectively they get 2 donations for the 1 mat.
Bbay the way.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by irl1 on Oct 17, 2019 18:01:17 GMT 1, No no no no no - sorry but this kind of behaviour should not be tolerated. Jesus calm down
He's paid for the mat already, so now "two" Charities will benefit can't see anything wrong with that.

Banksy Welcome Mat, by drip on Oct 17, 2019 18:01:17 GMT 1, Imagine if charity after charity after charity just kept buying and reselling (and benefitting from) one of these mats? Do you think it would end with Sotheby's Auctioneers Against Arthritis?
