Does anyone have any insights on BBay?  Any anticipated timeline or additional detail?

I must admit, for an artist of Banksy's prominence, I'm surprised by the number of projects/pieces that have been announced and never materialized.

Things like Glitter Gorilla are no big deal.

But Gross Domestic Product was a bit of a clusterf$%k.  Some of those products never even saw the light of day.

And BBay is a pretty big idea to "announce" and then go silent for 2+ years.

At this point, you'd think his "organization" would have enough resources and discipline to at least get their ducks in a row before going public.

Don't get me wrong...I'm still a HUGE fan.  Just surprised.

Any thoughts?

I thought GDP and BBAY were to address the re-sell and legal issues. After Banksy lost the court case re. copyright I imagine that BBAY became a less attractive solution. Who knows...

Just because some of the items were never sold to the "general public", doesn't mean they haven't arrived in some VIPs collections.

Lolz. Don’t think there is much hope of this happening now after all this time

I think Banksy needs a team of reliable people to help him with his projects, people who have skills in different areas, and can guide him through what are good or bad ideas.
I think in the past with Ben, POW, Steve Lazarides and others, he was surrounded by people who could get things done, yeah yeah! It didn't always turn out so good.
I mean artists like Damien Hirst, Daniel Arsham, Parra, DFace, appear to have a whole backup team guiding the ship, and making sure it's all well organized. I think Banksy has so brilliant ideas, it's just most are not really followed through to their full conclusions.

I heard his new team were brought in to sort out all the issues you've listed. They probably didn't realise what a huge task it was.

I just feel frustrated how badly things have been handled for brand Banksy 😕 I wonder what that "new team" have done? I would think first step would be to make a concrete, reliable, regular presence with a Website and Social Media, giving confidence to collectors.

Confidence is low, there's no leadership, no management and no communication which instills confusion, anxiety and anger. It's rife throughout the market. Alot of people are saying the same thing but not many are saying it to them out of fear of not getting coa or getting blacklisted. There's an obvious lack of knowledge and experience in key roles. Really bad decision making. I've voice the opinion of the consensus to them directly and crystal clear, however they're only hearing one voice or a handful, they don't believe me that the market is very concerned, they think I'm being pissy. one person is easily ignored. Nothing will change unless people start voicing their concerns as a collective. I've tried, they don't believe me .

There is no issue with the artist per se however the structure and function of PC is pretty much a total failure.

The idea that it can take 2-3 years for a COA or a change of owner isn't because they think its clever or there is some sort of commercial reason at all, its because they are completely and utterly failing to do the most basic things and are verging on collapse.

Those in the know are more than aware that the situation is beyond bad and that it cannot continue as it has.

Whilst the likes of Hirst can create mass projects like the currency and a new series of 300 original works each individually photographed and displayed in a public gallery whilst being sold via applications that are correctly vetted and dealt with thus furthering the artists career and managing his estate, Pest Control cannot print out a piece of paper in the space of 2 years or reply to an email.

The issues can, will and are damaging the artists estate, market, values and credibility.

Whilst one cannot compare the 2 artists in terms of their ideology or subject matter , one is a current, active artist that is expanding his appeal, engaging fans at all levels as both viewers of the work, collectors and other interested parties, creating new works, entertaining people, vetting purchasers quickly and methodically and allowing a flowing market place for primary and secondary sales without a hitch and the other is in a position where new collectors have nothing to buy, established ones cannot sell their works and other interested parties have one Instagram post a year to keep them going.

100% nothing to do with the artist, the issues lie with management or lack thereof.
