Yeah, if not that, I’m guessing the quality is going to vary a lot over time. I’m guessing they will be new can? Otherwise I just can’t see how they will be able to get their hands on enough used cans. They are gonna sell huge! Numbers of these for sure.

Banksy Black Spray Can, Gross Domestic Product™, by Daylight Robber on Oct 17, 2019 7:28:02 GMT 1, Can anyone confirm, if you apply for a spraycan that you are guaranteed to be offered one? Or is it the same as other items in that there is some kind of lottery involved. I know the item is listed as unlimited but how do they manage if demand far outstrips supply?

So basically guarantee but may wait 6 months.

My understanding is all items are a lottery? You have to be in the right time slot that's chosen at random and then picked out of all the entries from that timeslot to get a chance to purchase. If they do this with say 100 cans a month, its still unlimited but will depend on production time so could be waiting years or decades. Perhaps they will be made in Palestine.

oh ffs. I should have gambled on a print then. Oh well. At this rate might have to pay secondary. In fact forget that just happy with a refugee Matt. If I don't get one I will do a lonely farmer and make my own.

What does unlimited actually mean?
Also does this mean you have to keep re applying every week?
Or is the one shot, just that? one shot?

If it is like the Mat, it will probably be around 1000.

I think the general opinion from the actual GDP shop was hand signed due to the variation of the “signature”. In reality for the cans, i cannot see how someone (or people) can hand sign an “unlimited” number of cans. I expect there will be another method of putting Banksy’s name on the can. Maybe there is a few templates or similar and hence some variation? Happy to hear other thoughts.

I’d say unlimited means the GDP haven’t figured out when to hit the stop button for the cans production. Ultimately they will come to a stop, when and what this means for the number produced is unknown at the moment. The WOH print was unlimited but that is winding up soon.... With regards reapplying, I read on here you can reapply in 1 month. I haven’t read this as confirmed on the GDP site.

I am prepared to be corrected, but unless it's a sticker or decal kind of affair, it's actually easier (and cheaper with an apprenticeship scheme) to get some interns to write on the can. Machines are really expensive.

Perhaps, but he also has to produce a fair few cups. The machine for this will be left over from the WOH (or he can use his mates again.) I don’t know for certain, but I would expect the process for putting the design on a cup would be similar to that of a can. Nonetheless let’s wait and see. When the lucky ones are chosen it would be good see some pictures of the finished article.

When the lucky ones are chosen it would be good see some pictures of the finished article. Autopen machines have been around for ages, and with today's technology, they might even be able to vary signatures (from a series of templates) but a can might be tricky.
Honestly, I suspect the cans will be an applied label (which will include the "worn can look" on the outside). The shirts sound like they will be hand-decorated (by somebody). The crockery art, I imagine will be slightly mass-produced (semi-produced?) based on the child's designs? The higher priced art merchandise have "signed" in their descriptions, so if it's signed, I reckon they'll tell you in the description, as the artist's signature should always carry a premium (god that made me sound like a tw*t, but you know what I mean).
If any members win big, I really hope they share the visual wealth and show it off. Some might tick that lotto box that says "No publicity" though.
Edit: Of course, it goes without saying (I'm saying it right now) that I know nothing, and it'll all unfold like a mysterious art Christmas.
