Also, wonder how many were held back for the archive sale next month for 2-4x retail price.

For sure. These "draws" or "raffles" are not on the up and up but that's how it is. Happens everywhere. Start throwing down big money, I'm sure they'll look out for you.

these although high release price , will flip well , best image out of the dancer series , face detail has improved from past editions , perfect , main edition should of been in white , more suitable to varied home decor , grey edition is nice too , canvases must look good .any mini canvases?

newbies often flip so in their best interest for these clients as they list them on eBay and set the market value for the upcoming special sales which they stated in the past use eBay sales market values to set future sales pricing🙄

Should go for canvases if spending that much ? If whatson , canvases have a lot more detail and depth not captured in the prints .
May be overlooked , I'm sure they would want to keep a customer like you 👨🎨 this release alone , would keep a gallery open for a year with all costs.

Martin Whatson - Passé, by meloveart66 on Nov 7, 2019 9:54:09 GMT 1, For me living in the Netherlands is no fun anymore. Releases are now or at some art fair (which we don't have here so much) in person or with the lotteries. Don't like the lotteries. Enjoyed more the online releases. With the lotteries, nobody is sure as well if it's a honest system! Like with the Hush release it seemed only French people got a print. So what is with GP?
And…prints will be flipped anyway with or without a lottery, it's extra profits for the future (raising market value prices) for the artist and gallery.

Ive always wondered about how the lotteries work and if they legally have to be fair and follow some sort of rules or if they can actually do what they want?
I don’t understand why GP do pre-sales on Louis Masai prints which will definitely sell out but not on Whatson which will also obv sell out.
(I have no beef with GP, never won in a Whatson lottery, just wondering about the overall strategy)

Martin Whatson - Passé, by sean1397 on Nov 9, 2019 1:14:54 GMT 1, To answer someone's question the gallery can do whatever they want. In some locations there may be laws on lotteries but unless someone spends 6 figures to sue them they aren't enforced. A gallery can service their high spenders and they should. It's smart business.
Now as for the artist and gallery lying about a lottery can be bad for reputation.
Then you can always have the Kaws release method - collect a bunch of interest, don't respond to anyone, sell to celebs and galleries who triple the price and lose regular fans!

Martin Whatson - Passé, by genesis on Nov 9, 2019 2:06:04 GMT 1, For some reason this go round I was able to get a Washed of this release (not selling nor trading tho). I've purchased from GP a few hands time over and all that I can say is even with the prior history and having a connection w/ an artist they've represented, I've won some and I haven't.
I truly feel they try to keep things as fair as possible.
