He does need a big show and new style that resonates or a drop could happen, however currently penguins are still on the rise, especially HF.
The Hong Kong show was a moderate success at best and it’s not all going to plan for us collectors.
The new ACE print is cool but people aren’t climbing over themselves to get it, the counter print was just awful and overpriced.
Let’s hope the classics remain popular as I have them 😂😂

Bit of an agenda? Or just bored and trolling? urbanartassociation.com/thread/156742/harland-miller-works-till
It's time to accept if you missed out instead of be bitter.
HM is blue-chip, his penguin works are sought now and will be in years to come.

What’s been the trend in secondary prices over the last 2 years?
And
Is Harland continuing to produce work that’s demanded?
Only facts please not opinion, thanks.

I don't own it, so no personal attachment, just wondering why it would be considered particularly poor compared to other Penguin ones. The colours look a bit muddy on the site, but wondered if that was just poor photography. Agree it's ambitiously priced.
Which ones do you have? 'Incurable Romantic Seeks Dirty Filthy Whore' (either version) remains my favourite.

Would you discount the George Michael ones (by far the highest) from the general trend, since his association would have put a significant premium on them?

Have a nice heavily HF print. 1/1 and a few prints. Originals are now priced too high for me. The HF has doubled in value since I bought it 2 years ago so not really a market that’s collapsing but I get people talking him down. His new style just isn’t getting people excited.
As long as Maddox are pumping him we will be ok. They can’t get enough.

Big fan of the Penguin covers, indeed a big fan of this fella.
Not that easy to get away from that path, however the new print, the In Shadows etc, all working for me.
I went to the White Cube show, and thought this new direction, the style, and the messages they convey a great move.
As to the original post, I thinking you are talking about value, and as someone who owns a few bits, not really that motivated/informed as to value, but to see his work evolve as it has, all good for me, hope it continues.

Harland Miller • ACE, by Deleted on Dec 5, 2019 16:01:46 GMT 1, Its very funny to have people ask me if I'm a troll, or if I have an agenda. I don't, I simply believe that without the stolen penguin identity, his art is not creative, interesting, or desirable.
No, I'm not a troll, I think this market is going down and I'm expressing an opinion on a forum full of other art fans. No, I don't have an agenda, you can't short the art market so I in no way can gain art or money by stating an opinion.
I'd suggest a little objectivity, even if you own a work by an artist. I guess people can't control themselves when something they own is criticized. It's pretty easy to see the defensive or critical people straight away right after posting this. You can call me a troll, or say I have an agenda, but the only people that do are the ones violently reacting to a negative HM post. Thank you for anybody coming with facts or opinions on both sides.

"Harland Miller is over" is a fairly bold statement without anything to really back it up beyond your personal feelings. It's pretty troll-y language. There's not much love shown on here for his new release - I think it's awful, both in intent and composition - but also little evidence his market is tanking.
The response seems pretty objective to me, including from those who own his work (I don't). Don't see anyone reacting "violently". Several said they think he's on a weak path currently, which is not the same as him being over. If he released another good Penguin print it would sell no problem. He's not showing himself to be an artist with a lot of range, but that doesn't mean his career is done.

Harland Miller • ACE, by jimmyjam on Dec 5, 2019 16:16:55 GMT 1, Basically Harland Miller entire career is based on overpriced prints which manifold and whitecube hyped only to the very rich. Somewhat like Max and Pejac are trying to do.
His canvas should be selling in the millions to justify his price points for his prints. They don't. They don't even come close. If you want an original ask Whitecube. They come up quite often.
Also, his work simply doesn't translate well outside of Europe and the US. He's limited and his new style isn't going anywhere. Anything outside of his Penguin Covers nobody wants his work and the auctions results show this.
At this point just go to a printer blow these up www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/307403/postcards-from-penguin-by-penguin/ and be happy you just saved 20k. Throw some paint on it even make it a HF version.

Very cool to have this come to my home city.
Anyway. Looking forward seeing the new Penguin works he’s showing in is hometown of York this February. I’m sure I’ll be the only one at the show 😉 You’re not the only one! Very much looking forward to it. Biggest show to date and first museum show. Me three. Very cool to have this come to my home city.

I personally don't think the art is interesting, as it's lost any clever dialogue that the Penguin pieces had, nor do I find it visually appealing, particularly the new releases. But, enjoy Genuine question... Why take the time to start a thread about art or an artist that by your words you DO NOT find: A. “Value in” B. “Interesting” C. Or “Visually appealing”? What is the point? You would think we’d have a million more Bambi threads with this thought process. My point is that it's an overvalued artist, that has zero range and with a change of style is sliding further and further artistically. Furthermore, it's an artist that's often discussed in this community as well as the bigger art world to a degree, which is the polar opposite of Bambi.
Should I only comment on things that I like and agree with? The new Sainer show is going to be amazing, can't wait !!!!! Happy ? I mean what's the point of a forum without different opinions? I think opinions drive conversation. If you don't want to have this conversation, no problem, but I genuinely don't see what the issue is.

Totally good to have opinions on here. I think this discussion needs some hard facts though. Have prices actually been going down? Evidence would be interesting to see.
