The other 400 prints, by albionpete on Sept 19, 2006 12:49:11 GMT 1, So with edition runs of 500 - are the extra 400 definitely going to be sold via POW as suggested by somebody who visited the LA Show?

The other 400 prints, by bonesy on Sept 19, 2006 22:37:33 GMT 1, They had a small sign saying the prints would be "avail at picturesonwalls.com soonish" They will be printed over there and wont have the deckled edge so the L.A. ones will be distinguishable (and numbered b/w 50 and 150).

The other 400 prints, by Jonny Breaks on Sept 20, 2006 19:20:45 GMT 1, heard they were going for about $500 which works out about £260-70...just hopeing that if they get released on POW they'll be for the same price so us mere mortals can afford some new work!

Hi, you need to have your image hosted somewhere like photobucket or flickr and update your profile with the link.

From POW:
That's when I reckon.
However, it's "the end of the month" now.
I suppose they didn't specify which month, tho... *shrug*
I wanna know what happened to the Banksy interview: "Coming September 2006".
*Edit: Could some kind person who's on the POW mailing list please let me know if they hear anything? I thought I was on the mailing list but I've never received anything resembling a mail from them

The other 400 prints, by andrewd on Oct 2, 2006 8:29:53 GMT 1, The P.O.W. shop is not going to be a shop! It is going to be a room in the Willow Street building and it's going to be by appointment only ( just like a trip to thier offices) The benefits of not having a shop front is that the extra cost isn't passed on to the buyer. They are also able to sell a huge amount in the three weeks before Christmas in Santas Ghetto and build up a big momentum of interest, whereas people allegedly get bored with a shop and forget about it!

The other 400 prints, by andrewd on Oct 2, 2006 8:33:25 GMT 1, Forgot to say that it was supposed to be open at the end of Sept but per POW 'we haven't had the sofa back from the reholsterers and we are all going to a wedding at the weekend!' They wouldn't say when the Banksy prints would be available other than they'd e-mail the list.

What's the point of that? Where's the change? Surely a nice little shopfront with a window and an open door would encourage passing trade, and people who don't look at the www might make some interesting discoveries that they wouldn't otherwise.

The other 400 prints, by foundation on Oct 2, 2006 12:23:48 GMT 1, Is the plan for this shop / drop in office type thing going to be before / during or after santa's ghetto? If its before do you really think that POW will be taking lots of orders? It'll be the select few getting dibs on a full set before they get released and most likely sold out at the ghetto, as far as any of the prints seeing the light of day on the POW site, dream on.

The other 400 prints, by aled on Oct 2, 2006 12:45:43 GMT 1, Surely there will be enough for everyone…. 400 x 6 = 2400 prints At the last count there were around 1400 people registered on the forum. The only way that the whole thing can go wrong is if some bright spark orders a huge amount specifically to make money on eBay!
Granted this is a simplistic view of the situation as a number will be re-directed to other galleries/on-line retailers (ES, AR and Laz) but there should be enough to go around.
To quote Dougal……….“I’m confused Ted…..”

The other 400 prints, by foundation on Oct 2, 2006 13:53:32 GMT 1, Aled, if you were offered all 6 prints for sale, would you buy them or say, No its Ok , I'll just have the one please, best leave some for everyong else. There may be 2400 individual prints, but its still only 400 of each one, its not just the people here and on ebay that will be buying them either, there is a great big world away from these few educational forums. The hype and the expectancy that has been gathering about the Ghetto and the duration ( 3 - 4 weeks) means that they only have to sell 20 full sets or 120 individual Banksy prints per day to be sold out by the end of the ghetto, I am sure you will agree that either number is not an outlandishly optomistic figure. Its just a plumb shame that half if not more will be going to the scalpers to double up on by the start of January, whilst collectors ( ones that dont come from close to London or new york) get the prickly end of the pineapple right up the......... once again.

The other 400 prints, by monochrome on Oct 2, 2006 15:29:39 GMT 1, well i sincerely hope the prints will be available to those individuals who cannot pay £400-600 for a air ticket to Banksy's new stomping ground.
i personally would like 3 or 4 of the prints - i guess it wil be a mad scramble should POW ever chose to release them.
there was a posting on the ebay group suggesting the new prints will be available in the UK soon which i hope is true.

The other 400 prints, by aled on Oct 2, 2006 15:37:36 GMT 1, Thanks for the comment Foundation. Having thought about what you said I agree however there is one sure fire way for most of the genuine fans to get hold of at least one print. The reason for the astronomical growth in the popularity of the work is the means to make a quick buck. Buy for £75 and sell in a matter of months for £600. This has attracted a vast number of potential buyers using the prints as a commodity. There is a solution, but it won’t be popular which is:-
P.O.W. to sell the prints at the current market value i.e. £500ish for a non signed and £1000 for a signed. This will have the effect of making the quick buck scenario a lot less attractive thus allowing the true fans to at least get their hands on a minimum of one
(I do know how to make myself popular ;-))

At least with the POW pricing how they do it now everyone gets the same chance of getting one. Raise the minimum to £500 and there's gonna be a heck of a lot of "true fans" who'll never be able to afford one again. The profiteers will be laughing tho.

The other 400 prints, by foundation on Oct 2, 2006 17:43:51 GMT 1, POW's ethos has always been quality art at low prices, it has been asked before when things started hotting up after wall and piece, why dont POW raise their prices? As much as it must really p them off to see prints they sold on friday being advertised 2 weeks later for a 300% markup, its not what ther have been about in the past. A rise to the same level as the Micallefs is understandable ( £200 mark ) due to inflation and general interest, I feel one way to combat this is to initially offer buyers with a good track record, i.e been on the POW mailing list for a while, not been horsing out banksys for proffit left right and centre. Good point GM, as you indicated, unfortunataly its the profiteers who have the cash at the moment, due to the rising cost of a banksy habit for the rest of us, limit prints to one/person as POW already do and keep the price as low as possible, affording as greatest possibility for fans to get their mits on a few at least, at normal prices rather than scalper scum prices.

The other 400 prints, by Curley on Oct 2, 2006 17:54:22 GMT 1, The new prints will surely have to be the equiverlent of USD 500 otherwise there will be 100 pissed off people who bought at the show. They maybe priced like the Grin Reaper was which was UKP £400 (i seem to remember)
I dont expect them to to £75 or £150. Happy days if they are.
Still dont think they will appear until santas ghetto. Lets be honest fairest way is one order per person.

The other 400 prints, by foundation on Oct 2, 2006 18:33:50 GMT 1, Not really as it wasn't a POW show, but done through Laz. Prices could be arranged to fit in with the POW pricing policy. The reaper was indeed 400 but the quality and fully signed edition justified it similar to CwS and Radar-rats smalled editions, not enough special about the new ones ( unless all 400 are signed and presented in sets of 6 for 1K a set). As was said before all the speculation began, we will just have to wait and see
