Banksy GDP staff gift prints, by GMA on Jan 23, 2020 13:51:06 GMT 1, Yes only 14 and is there any special type of glass that are extra protective? Quite new to this sort of thing. Only 14? Was one given to every staff member? Surprised there were so few of you! Nice gift!
Make sure you get it framed at a place that knows what they're doing, I'd personally want it to be "Conservation Level Framing", acid free mount, backing board (not mounted to the board!), and UV anti-reflective glass. I personally wouldn't "float" this as it means you have a deeper box and then from what I know, if you use antireflective UV glass you could get a slight blur. I used UV protective glass on my daughters, I didn't do antireflective but that's because I didn't feel the need to, not where it's positioned in the her room.
Nothing more frustrating then having a lovely print up on the wall and when you're looking at it all you can see is the f-ing light bulb from the ceiling, spoiling the view.
You'll probably think "How much?!?" but trust me, it's worth it. If you don't conserve it properly then the paper will yellow over time, if sunlight is hitting it, it will also fade over time.
...welcome to the jungle.

That blur you get from distancing the print to the glass is only on the cheap and nasty anti reflective stuff.

Was one given to every staff member? Surprised there were so few of you! If you take it to a good framer they'll be able to talk you through the best options. If you're new to getting art framed it seems intimidating, but it's really not. I just say what I'd like and they tell me what's possible/not eye-wateringly expensive. Museum glass will give it UV protection and minimal reflection (it costs a bit more, but worth it).
Mister Frame Man is excellent, but sure there are plenty on here who can offer recommendations if you're outside London.
Really great gift. Congratulations and thanks for sharing.

I couldn't frame anything with darker colours anymore without it. It does give a blue/green tint when reflecting light, but it's worth the cost.

Banksy GDP staff gift prints, by ajr on Jan 23, 2020 14:39:01 GMT 1, I was there on the last day around 10pm and saw a guy walk out of GDP with a protective tube with Banksy stenciled on the outside. He was part of the staff as he said goodbye to a couple of the brown jackets on the way out and seemed to be know by them. Maybe a senior person? Anyway, I think there must have been another print handed out that evening to a few involved with the show.

Just another artist gave out tubes with a poster in them to staff.

Nice print... looks like better paper than the free handouts. Is there an edition number, or just a dedication? PFG did my rats and flower thrower over their.
I know it's not everyones preference, but I love them.

If the artist valued it at £10 when he gave it then there's no tax to pay. It's just a signed poster. That someone else would now pay more for it is a different thing.
That's how I'd argue it, anyway!

I don't expect Damien Hirsts dentist declared his gifted works to the tax man either.

When you make a thread. Prices and pictures would increase your odds of a sale.

I’d gladly dress like Eric Sykes for that payoff. Framing wise I’d settle for nothing less than archival cotton rag and museum glass.

It's a fantastic keepsake, but it won't ever be worth a "ton." But, then again, it depends on what you consider a ton. In the realm of signed banksy prints with coa's, it will not be.
